2005 TL - Blinking "D" light + VSA + CEL
2005 TL - Blinking "D" light + VSA + CEL
Yesterday I was on my way home from a short drive to drop off my wife at work. I got off the highway and came to a stop light and the VSA, trac triangle, CEL came on and the green drive light started to blink. The car went into "limp" mode which got me home and when I got there I was able to hook up my Solus scanner up to it and got these codes: p0966 - clutch pressure solenoid B and p0970: clutch pressure control solenoid c low input. I reset the codes and the car drove just fine for about 5 miles and then the lights came back on and went into "limp" again. I tried to reset the codes a second time but every time I tried, the code would pop back up instantly and I have not been able to reset it since.
I am skeptical that it is actually a mechanical problem because this car has never had any hard shift or sticking issues (also the code explains that it is in the circuit).
I followed the trouble shooting guide on the scanner which told me to check the resistance in both the solenoids and found that results to be at 4ohms, which is in between spec. I also jumped the solenoids to the battery and found they both clicked on and off like normal. However, one of the solenoids had a louder clicking than the other one when I jumped it. I tested the resistance from the negative pin on both solenoids to the negative terminal on the battery and found I wasn't getting a full ground out reading. I suspect a bad ground somewhere but I checked just about every ground I could see and found nothing loose or corroded.
Has anyone else had or heard of this issue? I have Googled around and haven't found much besides some people turning the car on and off and never seeing it again or changing the fluid and never seeing the code again. Tranny fluid seems fine in my car and the level is good so I don't think that is the issue here.
Please help! I want nothing to do with the steelership so I prefer to figure this out on my own time and dime.
Thank you in advance!!!!
Andy

I also doubt mechanical problem. When you reset it the first time, it drove fine for 5 miles and I'm sure that in those 5 miles it went through most of the gears, yet you were able to do at least 4 miles without setting the code off again. Plus, you said that after a while, you tried resetting it and it would come back on instantly without even driving it, so "mechanical" is starting to sound less likely. This guy seems to think it's the ECU...

I don't know, but the more I read "Problems & Fixes" threads, the more I realize that these cars have so many electrical problems. Good luck!

I found this and I have tracked everything down to low volts coming from the ECU.
This is the next step and I need to know where this wire is located on the ECU so I can check it.
Does anyone have a wire diagram to show me where this wire ends so I can test it?
PLEASE HELP!!
NO - Repair open or short in the wire between PCM connector terminal C15 and A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B.n

this is the troubleshooter I used. I need to find how to trace this wire.
