2005 TL 6MT Navi: Right rear "rattle" fixed!

I had a rattle in my right rear of the car and searched the trunk, etc. and could not find it. I then suspected it was a strut/suspension issue and described it to the service person as such. The dealer fixed the "rear deck rattle" many have posted about. They also said that the "strut" rattle was loud and could easily be heard and had to order a part (about 1 week).

I had the "strut" rattle fixed this morning; here's what was on the paperwork:

A REAR STRUT ORDERED. CAUSE: FAILED
CUST MAY NEED SHUTTLE RIDE. ADVISED A 3 HR WAIT.

417199 R/R SUSPENSION MISC PARTS REPLACEMENT
88 WP93
1 52610-SEP-A13 SHOCK ABSORBER, RR.
FC: 07404
PART#: 52610-SEP-A13
COUNT:
CLAIM TYPE: REGULA
AUTH CODE: 042-08

Looks like it was a shock absorber. The symptom was that if you go over a sharp bump, you will hear a thump sound in the right rear. In my case, exiting my garage 1/2" height from the driveway, you'd hear the thump -- I originally thought it was just the ABS testing itself. I now know what the ABS test feels like and this was different.

I was at the dealership 2 hours 40 minutes. I tried the fix out in the parking lot (driving quickly over some bumps in the road) and the rattle was gone. The car feels solid. -- nice, smooth, and sweet as it should be.

I hope this helps someone else diagnose this issue. I'm sure glad it's fixed -- it has been driving me nuts for several weeks now.

That work order confused me too

We've been referring to this as a "strut" issue and it turns out that they just replaced a shock absorber -- I just called them to confirm.
