2004 MTL CEL Catalytic converter or O2 Sensor
2004 MTL CEL Catalytic converter or O2 Sensor
Hello y'all,
So my check engine light popped up a few days ago and I took it into a local Pep Boys out here in Austin Tx and they pulled up codes indicating that my Catalytic converter or O2 sensor could be bad. My first question is, how can you tell which Catalytic converter is going out? (I forgot to write the codes down) If it was a bad O2 sensor would the O2 sensor make one of the Catalytic converters look as if it's going out and would the 3rd cat cause the CEL to come on? My next question is how bad is it to drive on a bad Catalytic converter for long distance? I'm going to Dallas next week and want to see if I can make the trip without causing any damage... it's about a 390 mile trip there and back.
