'08 TL at dealer for over a week now...

My TL has about 53k miles, I had it serviced and the tech noted worn motor mounts. Got it covered under the powertrain warranty. Now that the mounts are fixed, I'm noticing a shudder similar to the descriptions of failed tourqe converters I've seen here.

I make another appointment with Acura, and the advisor agrees that the tech says he feels the same shudder, and that it's not normal. However, their claim is that they cannot actually replace any parts on the transmission without a code present in the computer.

Now they have decided to keep my car, and said that a representative from Acura is going to come and drive with the tech to see if they agree on the replacement of the tq. converter, and or/transmission.

Has anyone had a situation like this? I love the MDX loaner and all, but I'm ready to have my car back. Hate the thought of it sitting outside baking in the sun (NBP ).

Just curious, I will keep everyone updated. I know the reliability of the 07-08 transmissions are still in question.

Which MDX is it? The new 2014?

It sucks that you don't have the car but at least they're trying to do something about it.

It was a 13 Tech / Ent Black on Black.

Nice ride, dad has a 2010, I can see why he loves SHAWD now. Very fun. Makes you want to floor it every time you turn around!

Back to the issue... Acura gave me my car back today, asked me to come back on the 14th... to meet with their parts and service rep to have him drive with me. I'm at my point really where I'm starting to not care, but the other part of me has to win the battle. Thankfully, even though my powertrain coverage ends in december, I have a service contract for three more years / 105k. I was just hoping to get it done with no deductible.

I will let you all know if I go back or not.

Thanks!

if you have a current warranty and you pretty much need a new transmission why would you not go back and get it fixed. i understand people have lives and jobs and cant always get things done right away but if they give you a free loaner car...you get it done......!

My point in not going back right now is that the Acura warranty is still in effect and in order to get resolve I have to 'convince' the regional parts and service manager that my car has an issue their diagnostic computers can't detect. - This is me taking a Monday morning off to drive 20 miles, just to have someone 'maybe' consider my concern, drop my car off again, and continue to let this technician drive my car in circles with the Honda computer hooked up in an attempt to get a code, which isn't going to happen because it's VERY early on failure. Hoping for it to get better this time... it's getting worse day to day.

If I wait, I will just get it done under my extended service contract, which will cover the transmission/tq converter regardless of Acura Corporates policies on manufacturer warranty considerations. - The issue for the dealer is when they send Acura my transmission back, they are going to test it, and if it passes their test then the dealer eats the cost of the tranny replacement.

Report back on the 14th...

The sad part is It's not like your TL is the first one ever to have a transmission failure.
Ever since 2000,their transmissions have sucked. I guess they don't want to believe they still do.
