Ordered a new BECK/ARNLEY 1042302 upper tranny mount from rockauto and the plan was to fill the gaps with 3M Urethane. OEM mount listed is
50870-sep-a92. Got the mount in, filled the voids with urethane, let it cure and was browsing the service manual on the replacement steps only to notice that the mount visual in the repair manual and that on Acura online parts catalog is different than what I was sent. Rockauto claims it is the correct mount though.
Anyone changed the upper tranny mount on their 07-08 TL-S Auto.
It seems the stock mount looks like this
However what i was sent is missing the arm in the middle of the rubber insert.
Ive spoken to them and BECK/ARNLEY and they both claim it's the correct part and how theyve sold many without issues. Am i loosing my mind here lol? Anyone done the tranny mount on an AT and have any pics from the change.
The OEM mount I used to replace my upper transmission mount looks exactly like the second picture you posted.
I do have an '06, which may have a slightly different mount than the '07, I'm not sure. There is a bolt that goes through the top of the mount and into the metal bracket that attaches to the transmission. There are three bolts on the side of the mount that go into the frame of the car.
that's the wrong mount. 04-06 TL is different than 07-08 TL. I just bought the same thing from them like 2 weeks ago to do upper trans mount and it was wrong one. I ended up buying OEM Upper Trans mount to save myself from headache. See pic.

Wish id've known this sooner lol. Ended up saying screw it and ordered an OEM one for $80 CAD to end my headaches.
Anyone with 04-06 need a mount in the GTA area lol; since RA claims the mount should fit and expects me to pay return shipping for a refund.
That's weird that they said that. What they said to me was, send an email to them at service@rockauto.com with the mount you bought, the mount in the car, and the VIN# (that's why I took that pic side by side, pic was for them), and they will contact the manufacturer and issue you free return shipping and refund. See email message below.
"I sent your photos - and VIN - to two manufacturers (Beck/Arnely and DEA) for review. Both recommended returning the part for a refund considering it wasn't a match to your particular vehicle. I was hoping they could help identify the correct part but neither could recommend a part number that would be correct. So, why your vehicle requires something different is not clear and unfortunately, it appears we may not have what your vehicle needs.
Considering the part should have fit - according to multiple manufacturers - but did not fit your specific vehicle, we'll refund the part cost and cover shipping one direction.
I have sent return instructions to your email address. You will find a prepaid shipping label at the bottom of the return instructions. You will receive your part cost refund within 3 business days after tracking information shows our warehouse has received your return. We will email you when the refund is issued.
Makes sense the mounts are different between the 04-06's and 07-08's because they have different transmissions, thanks for the clarification Hazsun.
Stunna - For this car, I would recommend going with the OEM mounts, especially the front and rear engine mounts, as they are vacuum controlled. A lot of the aftermarket mounts do not have the vacuum lines and they do make a difference. Several people would use the aftermarket and have bad vibrations, so end up going OEM in the long run. For the transmission, it shouldn't make much of a difference, but you may run into issues like you have. The OEM top tranny mount for my '06 was about $40, the lower mounts were between $20-25 a piece, so not too bad.

I've stayed with OEM mounts for front and back as they're more tedious to change, and obvs cost more. To date i've changed the pass side mount with an Anchor mount which has served me well, the front with an oem and the upper tranny was planning on changing with an aftermarket which I was going to fill with 45a urethane to strengthen it a tad. Figured just grab the cheapest mount as I was filling it anyways but clearly it was not meant to be. Ended up picking an OEM one for $80 today and currently waiting for the urethane to dry on it for the next couple days.
As for RockAuto after a few phone calls they finally agreed to refund and even said keep the mount as to ship it back would be more than its worth. From my research it seems that only their Anchor and Westar mounts are the correct replacements ones for 07-08 Auto
