'07 TL-S Burning Oil
Took my '04 for a state inspection this morning and the mechanic who did it told me he's on the verge of suing Acura and the dealer. Apparently, his '07 TL-S 6MT which he let me drive *:0)* has been loosing a quart of oil EVERY WEEK since he got it. Being a mechanic, he put it on the lift to see if there was a leak, NOPE. The dealer replaced the cylinder heads, but that didn't change anything. He also said that Curry Acura (where I bought mine) and the regional service rep that services Curry are trying to convince him that this is normal AND that he shouldn't be using synthetic oil either. He claims Acura Client Services have been about as helpful as tits on a door.....How could we not believe that!?!?
The car only has 17,000 miles on it and according to him, 123 miles on the OD when he picked it up as new.
What's wrong with this picture ?

123 miles means that it was driven somewhere, and pretty hard to cause leaks like that. The solution I can think of his tear down the motor and change the piston rings/seals. That may help, but if the damage is done to the block, then your only choice would be for a new one. How many miles per quart of oil is he loosing?

Of all the dumb ass stuff Acrua and their dealerships try to slide by on, it's things like this that make them all look like liars and thieves.
Of course, NO car is *supposed to* or *normally* burn 1qt of oil per week. Not even per oil change now-and-days. Not if it's in good running order.
AND the Owners Manual SPECIFICALLY states that Synthetic Oil is fine, but that you are still responsible for maintaining the MID Oil Change Intervals.
the morons that take all the good that Acura does and turn it to crap with one stupid statement.
