'07 TL Front doors don't stay open
I have an '07 TL that the front doors won't stay open unless they are in just the 'right' position. If I'm lucky enough to find where that position is, then great (this of course depends highly on the parking skills of driver of the neighboring car!). Otherwise, it's a virtual race to get into the car before the car door slams shut on a body part - usually a leg. I find this situation painful and dangerous.
Despite my pleas to the dealer, they tell me this is the way it works. I currently have a loaner '09 TSX and the doors work as I expect - they stay open!
It's almost as if there is something it loose in the hinges or other door mechanisms to behave like this. I find it hard to believe, with all the attention to detail that Acura puts into their vehicles, that this is acceptable or designed to work like this.
Does anyone have similar experiences? Have you gotten it fixed? What was done? Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!

It's the detents on the extender arm thing. They aren't very deep and you've got to get the door centered on one with little or no momentum or it'll swing back closed.
I've got a Chevy ('06) that's the same way.
Don't know why they do it.
But I do know this: Let that door close on your leg a couple of times and you'll learn right-quick the "correct" way to enter and exit your vehicle for maximum pain avoidance.

hahah i know exactly what youre talkin about.. ive got some bruises on my knee area in the past because of it too. just try to get in quickly i guess.. its a neat feature except when you dont want to get in all the way RIGHT away.
if u wana leave the door open just make sure you angle it to where you want to hold it so it stays there. it'll stay in that "groove."

Haha this is one of the few gripes I have with the car. Right when I bought it I had a broken left hand and I literally had to dive into my car to avoid being smashed by the door. What a dumb ass feature!

This is normal.........but annoying. My old TSX was the same. You may want to practice opening the door and finding the groove to hold it open. That way you know how hard you need to push the door open with. Have fun.

Sorry man, but that's a funny picture.
There are two positions that the door will stay open. One in the middle and one extended all the way. if you push the door with too much force, it will self close. If you open it slowly to the two positions, they will stay open.
I actually like this neat feature... I walk to my car, swing my door open, sit down, and watch as people watch my 'automatic' door close =). I love it, sometimes I trick people by putting my left hand on the steering wheel and right hand on the shifter. They think the door closes by itself because there is a little studder before it actually starts closing. It's hilarious to see people watch.
