Angry 06 tl wont start

So my 06 tl wont start. Now i recently replaced the alternator and the starter as well as the battery. I was driving earlier during the day then I get home have supper and it just doesn't want to start after that.

I put two videos on youtube to help better describe the issue

http://https://youtu.be/hYuNSmi8IDo

i hope its not going to be an expensive fix. I can handle most things myself

Sorry for not putting the videos in the thread but i cant figure it out

You're missing a colon in the second link.

Did you re-tighten your battery cables? Did you replace the parts yourself or did someone else? My guess is you have a loose cable at the battery or starter.

First, check battery voltage with a multi-meter post to post.

Very common issue

parasitic draw... likely HFL or other culprit. Your battery has been drained and needs to be charged. Also you need to identify what is the culprit of the draw

^^^^ tend to disagree, I wouldn't think he would have any dash lights if the battery was drained.

OP, if the battery checks good, loosen and retighten the battery cables, even if you think they are tight.

Isn't it possible that there is enough amperage to turn on dash lights but not enough to crank starter?

I have already loosened and tightened the cables on the battery but I will get a read on the battery and possible codes when I get home today and post the results

My assumptions....

1.) If the battery were drained too much to start the car, wouldn't we hear the clicking of the relays?
2.) In my experience, a loose battery cable causes everything to go dead when the key is turned just like it was disconnected. (Radio comes back up locked, etc)

Turn on your headlights and then turn the key. If the lights stay on and strong, I would bet it isn't the battery. If they go off completely, check your connections. If they go really dim, check your battery itself.

Jason, have you tried replacing the + battery cable? At this age, it might be corroded internally to the point where it can barely conduct electricity.
I had to replace mine last year when I had similar problems.

so i had the battery tested and it came back good 12.46v and 810cca as for the cable it was still good. i was thinking of replacing the ignition switch but i am not sure how to take the ignition switch off the steering column. Yes i have tried google but to no effect. does anyone here have a link for it?

i didnt think it was your battery either.. your dash lights never flickered or even dimmed when you tried to start it
i wouldnt say it's your alternator either since your battery test came back positive

what kind of started did you replace it with? oem, aftermarket, or rebuilt?
from :09 seconds to :11 seconds i hear something when you try to start your car, not sure if thats the starter but it kind of sounds like its trying to start but fails
i would try to gain access to the starter (somewhere close under the battery tray) and give it a couple of love taps with a wrench or hammer on the solenoid and try starting the car again

another thing you can do is check all your fuses (door panel and under the hood) and listen for your fuel pump when you turn the key to the on position.. you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime for like 2 seconds and then the relay cutting it off

my car did something similar 2 years ago.. i had a road trip from LA to San Fran for christmas... car ran fine, was using it a few times a day while i was over there and then on the last night as i was about to head back to LA at 8pm my car wouldnt start... battery was tested and fine but turned the key and i got nothing but dash lights.. turned out to be a bad starter when the mechanic looked at it.. replaced it and its been good since then

if the ignition switch is actually bad and failing wouldnt you NOT get that buzzing/ticking sound when you tried to start your car? correct me if im wrong but if the ignition switch was bad, is it possible that it can still send a signal to your starter?

I cannot watch the video because I am at work right now, but are you hearing a singular click when you turn the key? That click should be the starter relay. If you do not hear the click, check the relay. If you do hear the click, do as suggested by champagned_out and try tapping on the starter with a breaker bar/pipe/whatever will reach while having someone turn the key in the ignition. Unless you bought a brand new OEM starter, all of them are rebuild, so you could have got shitty luck with the one you bought. Typically, if a starter goes bad, there will be no prior warning.

Your battery cables may be good at the terminals, but there may be issues with them elsewhere. Check the ground where it connects to the frame. Try just wiggling the cables around and seeing if anything changes. If it does, your wiring is bad.

OP, the ignition switch is not the key cylinder. It's a separate component on the underside of the steering column and an easy DIY. There are a couple of threads on replacing it, do a search.

The starter cutout relay is behind the left kick panel. That could be it, but I doubt it. If you hear a constant clicking sound from the kick panel when trying to start, that means an under voltage is being sent to the starter cut relay.

Again, who installed the various parts you mentioned and where they all new?

My guess is a bad starter.
