Unhappy '05 TL Won't Start in Cold Weather

I have a 2005 Acura TL and am having the same problem this winter that I had around this time last year- my car won't start in cold weather. Last year I replaced the battery and alternator so I think I've eliminated those two as problems. I also thought that I noticed that it happens more often when I keep my headlights switched on overnight, so my mechanic replace the light relay for my headlights, but that also hasn't fixed the problem.

I've had to jump start my car numerous times this month (it's pretty cold in the MD area), and it's becoming pretty annoying. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Turn your headlights off at night. Start with that. There is a parasitic drain somewhere. Do you have any accessories that stay plugged in (ie: phone charger, power converter etc..) With my truck, if I didn't use it for a while the brake controller eventually sucked the power out of the battery because it was always drawing power.

Oh, and it's not THAT cold in the MD area that this should happen. Get your battery and alternator checked again. Maybe you bought duds.

With key off, here's a way of checking current flow rather than to remove the bat cable:

HFL could b ur issue, hands free link is supposed to stay on for 30 minutes after u shutoff the car to finish your call, but over the years the unit goes bad and apparently drains ur battery more and more, I disconnected mine cuz I don't use it anyway.

Pull the HFL and unplug it-- may take 10 minutes the first time.
See posts 219-221 in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/bluetooth-fails-792642/.

Member Adoniram has a video of HFL removal at: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/hfl-fix-youre-welcome-hands-free-link-fix-900427/.

Remove the HFL circuit board and bake it in the oven for 9 minutes @ 385*F, then replace it and reinstall the HFL to see if the problem is resolved.
See https://acurazine.com/forums/showt...792642&page=10 for more info.

If not, you can replace the HFL for @$180. If you don't replace the HFL, you lose Bluetooth and Voice commands.
