'05 TL Speedometer backlight out!

What's going on Acurazine! I'm a newcomer to the site, but I've been reading threads since I got my 2005 TL a year ago. My car recently passed 80k miles(low milage car) and one day while I was commuting, my nav screen started flickering and my gauges were all dropping and turning off. It did it a few times over until I pulled over, come to find out, my alternator was on its way out. I had it replaced a few days ago, but I noticed a section of the speedometer backlighting is out. I'm not sure if it burnt out from the gauges getting turned on and off rapidly, or if it's just a lost connection behind the cluster. Either way, if anyone has any experience with this, or has a solution, I'd appreciate it a lot, thanks!

Oh wow. That looks annoying. Most likely the LEDs have been shorted or too much voltage melted the crap out of it.
Can the gauge cluster be replaced without ODOmeter issues? If so you can definitely grab one for cheap as these are a dime a dozen.

You might be able to find an electronics repair place that could desolder the led and solder in a new one... in fact, they could even change the colors of your entire cluster while they're in there.

Yupp I hate it! I figured that when I kept losing power, it probably shorted out one part of the led board. From what I heard, my milage readout would be affected by a cluster swap and I don't really want to do that on such a low milage car.

At this point I was even considering getting some gauges from USR to put over mine, just because that burnt out corner bother me so much.
