Hey Gang,

When I am in 2nd gear (auto-trans) accelerating or sometimes 3rd going uphill under hard acceleration (~3-4k rpms) my car seems to go "poof" or makes a noise sounding like either exhaust pressure/discharge or a quasi-misfire. I once believed it was the trans but now think it's electronic or combusion-related.

Brief history - car sat for a yr. before recently purchasing it. Has 70k, good shape other than this wierdness going on. I have put 2 cans of seafaom through it since having it for only 5k, put a K&N box filter in, changed over to Mobil-1, that's about it. I'm thinking plugs but at 70k it on the initial thought seems early.

Thoughts are much appreciated if anyone has experienced the same or has ideas before I start throwing money at the problem.

Also, car consistently gets solid gas mileage at 19mpg in mostly city traffice w/some highway weekly.

PS: I know this is pretty broad...thx.

 

I'm pretty sure you need to change your spark plugs after using sea foam..
