'05 TL AT ,Have to use shift lock to get into gear, brake lights work CEL on

Ok my latest 05 TL AT problem. Last night check engine light comes on, I can hear the shift lock clicking on and off. This morning my car wont go into drive without pressing in the shift lock. The brake lights work though so I'm thinking it's not the brake switch. My TL has 101,000 miles on it, recently had a stuck piece of carbon removed, as well as front brakes replaced and tranny fluid changed. Any thoughts?

Sorry for my maybe dumb question, but what do you mean by shift lock? Usually, a shift lock is a button you press on gear selector on AT cars to allow it to change from P to D to R to L, but the TL doesn't have that as simply pressing the brake unlocks the shifter, so what do you mean?

Check for a blown #32 fuse under the hood.

If thats ok then you might try repacing the Shift Lock Solenoid.

Update

Checked fuse 32, it wasn't blown. Went to start car and it wouldn't turn over, the dash kept flashing the green key light. Also noticed the thermomter wasn't reading the outside temp.had it towed to a local shop. They said they think I need a new ecu and won't touch it . now it's getting towed to the dealer, any thoughts on what the issue is? I'm wondering if I messed something up when I checked the fuse.

the flashing key light means the car couldnt pair the immobilizer with the key.

and therefore wont start.

but make sure it's not a dead battery first!!

Deffinitely not a dead battery, it wants to start but won't turn over...

if green key is flashing, it means immobilizer has been unpaired from physical key and is preventing from start up.

a/c drain could have plugged up causing damage to ECU which then makes the car's immobilizer active
