'05 TL D2S Replacement
After reading on here a few days ago, I decided to try and change the HID bulbs without removing the "bumper." I followed what a few of you suggested. and proceeded to use a small screwdriver in the Torx screw. Nothing would turn it, so I pulled it all apart and put it all back together. It only took me 3 1/2 hours to accomplish. The only way I can see removing the Tamper resistant Torx screws while still in the car would be with the Specially designed, Tamper resistant Torx driver with the hole in the center. I think you guys need to better inform the others on here that these are holding on the bulb covers and will be required to remove the bulbs the correct way.

I followed the DIY's from this forum and was fine. There's plenty of scans from the service manual that clearly state you need the tamper proof Torx T20 bit.

But yes, you do need a tamper proof Torx T20 bit with the hole in the center or else you can use a small flathead that just fits and try to get it to unscrew.
