05 TL a/c pressure switch replacement

After signing up for this forum, I did my usual forum due diligence and did multiple searches trying to find the answer to my question before posting a new thread. I see people have danced all around the question but no answer to my specific question. First, I am an experienced diy mechanic and this forum is not my first rodeo. I don't need to take the car to a dealer (yet) as I think I have narrowed the problem I am having.

My specific question is, can the 4 wire a/c pressure switch be replaced without losing the refrigerant in the system as is the case with other manufacturers? I am pretty certain that is the issue with my system after some testing and I need to replace the switch. I see what appears to be refrigerant oil coming around the body which is another indicator it is bad. I just don't want to have to have the system reclaimed unless I have to, and obviously don't want to remove the switch without knowing for sure it is backed up with a schrader valve like other manufacturers have in place.

I look forward to anyone giving an answer and look forward to participating in this forum. I am new to the Acura scene, I bought an '05 TL last year, have not had to work on it until now.

what issue are you having? The pressure switch should have a shrader valve on it but if the body is leaking it could be a bald valve, meaning that might need to be replaced too. Have you checked the drier to see if there's any shavings meaning an overhaul is needed?
