05 TL Automatic - Shaking at startup??
Hey guys - When starting up my car for the first time, no matter what time of day, I've noticed that it shakes. It not a little shake, its more like an earthquake...haha no just kidding, its not that bad either but its definately something that does not seem normal. I have an 05 Automatic, with approx 60k miles. I did read something about the motor mounts sometimes being the cause of this or something but I have no idea. Any one else experiencing something similar?

^ I have no clue. I am a vendor for an Acura dealer, hopefully I can get them to check it out for me today without charging me too much. I will let you guys know what happens. Thanks

I noticed the same thing. I've had my 05 TL Automatic for 2 weeks now. I sort of thought it was normal - car has 68K on it. And it's not THAT bad, but there is a noticeable jolt and a thud when the motor turns over. After that, it runs fine (shifts are smoother than my 04 v6 Accord). I plan on taking it in to an Acura dealer at 70K - we'll see what they say.

Are you sure it's not the normal misfiring that happens to warm up the cats? All the 3GTLs idle rough until warmed up. If it is smooth once the engine is warmed up all may be fine. If you already knew that and this is different then never mind....

Acura wants to charge me $111 to "diagnose" the problem. I don't know what I should do. I am the original owner and what I can say is that I don't remember the car doing this before

Hey guys - check this video out
I basically set the camera on the steering column, I was not touching the camera and you can how the camera jerks/shakes all by itself. (This was caused by the shaking) I don't think this is normal
like I mentioned above I do not remember the car doing this before

I just had the same problem and it was the motor mount the cheapest way to know is ask some one to start the engine while you look under the hood at the mount its on the passenger side right next to the belt. When giving gas it will move you'll be able to see. Also if the mount is bad you'd gear it all the time its a rattle on bad road or bumps.
mount - 90$ 20 for install at local mechanic..hope it helps

turn car on. place left foot firmly on brake. shift into drive. (left foot still on brake) step on gas pedal and let off. do this a couple of times on/ off and listen for a clucnk or feel for a knock vibrations(thump sound) if you do. front mount is damaged and forget about the side one. those are garbage

mine is an 05 seemed like it was the first time anyone replaced it...also depends onm how you drive, if smooth itll less longer if you haul ass all the time and make a lot of abrupt stops the mount will wear out quicker
