Not sure if anyone can help…i cleaned the pump unit but unable to put it back. The two black thingy in the middle of the housing is preventing the pump from being reinstalled. I could take out the pump easily but now i am stuck. Any advise?

You are brave in attempting this (while the abs unit is still in the car) because there is no FSM guidance, that I could find, in regards to actual ABS/VSA control module disassembly / reassembly.
With that said, my best guess is that the round black items (yellow) are spring loaded to push out against the medium sized (bearing?) round center piece (red) in the second picture?
If that observation is accurate, one would have to innovate a way to either slightly or fully compress those round black items (red arrow direction) all the while trying to guide the male piece into the female receptacle (magenta) while the abs housing assembly is still in the car.
Even with the ABS modulator completely disconnected & out of the car, it would still be a very difficult challenge?
Furthermore, what was the ABS system doing that compelled you to disassemble & '...cleaned the pump unit...'???
Good Luck!
Vsa and abs light came on many yrs ago. I changed the fuse and wheel speed sensor but nothing changed!
thought cleaning might help but anyway long story short those two should not be separated…i ended up ordering an used complete set on eBay.
Lol, Wtf. There's like 2,000 pages of DTC troubleshooting in the VSA section and not one mentioned "take the shiny cup thingy off the brake liquid pumper". I don't think the modulator was meant to be serviced like that. Oh well. Forums are meant for help regardless of experience level, hopefully people ask before they cause themselves trouble, such is life.

I'm curious now
Are either of those bearings on the pump motor shaft easily removed? One of them might have needed to stay inside the aluminum block to keep the pump pins pushed in far enough to reinstall the pump motor.
