The past few days when I have tried to start my car when I turn the key to ignition it makes a rapid clicking/sparking sound and all the lights on the dash flicker rapidly as well. After a couple tries of this I then notice a smoky "sparky" smell like you just set off a bunch of pop caps. Then it eventually start sfter about for or five tries. Thanks for the help and sorry if there is a thread about this exact problem already.

 

How old is your battery?
How do your posts look like? Are they dirty/corroded?

 

double check your terminals and make sure they are tight. if they are, it sounds like you need a new battery.

 

Two months after bi bought my car it did this. Battery was bad and was replaced under warranty. No issues since.
