'04 TL Missing Piece on Console
Hey everyone, I'm a proud new member of this forum as I just bought my '04 TL w/ Navi two days ago. There is a piece missing however on the outer trim surrounding the shifter and I can't figure out what it is/what it does? Does anyone have any ideas or where I could get one. Here is an image of the piece I'm talking about (circled in red):
Thanks in advance for any help. I really appreciate it!

It's the cover for the manual shift lock release. You can put your key in there to release the shifter.
Looks like item #13 here. ~$8 at the dealer parts desk.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since mine is automatic, I'd assume I don't need this for anything, but would still like to have it to keep things looking sharp. Would I be able to go into any Acura Dealer and purchase this or would you recommend buying online (w/ the link you sent me)?

Get it at any dealer if one is fairly close. Not worth buying on line, IMHO. Just don't let 'em charge your more than the $8.20 list price. Make 'em price match the $6.xx if you can.
No you don't "need" it, but you don't want to be dropping crap down there either.
That lock release only exists on automatics, I think. If your car dies, you can use your key in that slot to depress a locking lever. Once depressed, you can shift the car into gear, neutral for example, to push it out of the road or to load it onto a tow truck.
