...'04 TL HID Ballast

... Yes i've search and found out it has to be my ballast that is dead. So this morning on the way to work my driver side bulb doesn't turn on added a new bulb and I see it wanting to turn on in the dark but it doesn't.

So ill have to say yup ballast is done, ill recheck the plugs and stuff, but what do you guys recommend? using OEM ballast? or splicing an aftermarket ballast on it?? ur help is appreciated

Are you sure it's not just the ignitor? I'm willing to bet ballast is fine and it's just the ignitor. Swap ignitors between each ballast and test it out. I know it sux to have to remove The bumper and headlights to do this but it could save you money.

I would go OEM on parts like that. There is a VIN break in that year, and I'm not sure if the aftermarket companies recognize this. (depends on if the last of your VIN is before or after 4A032972)

The controll unit and igniter are both around $220 at the dealer, but you may be able to talk them down in price depending on their mark-up.

Call up Matt at the retrofit source. They might be able to make you an ignitor for cheap with OEM parts that works with your TL ballast. You just need the connector on the end that plugs to your ballast. No need to go to the dealer.

And I heard Wed and Thursday might hit 60 degrees!

I know the morimoto equipment is better than the other aftermarket HID equipment but I'm not convinced its just as good as OEM yet. Im running their D2S bulbs right now with no glitch!

Anyways here's a link for the ignitor:
