I have an 04 TL automatic with 168,000 miles on it with the original tranny. This started happening a couple days ago. Sometimes when I shift from P to D or R it seems like the car doesn't go into gear and when I press the gas pedal it just revs like it's in neutral. The only way for it to get into gear after that happens is to shut the car off and turn it back on and sometimes that takes a couple of tries before it engages. It usually happens when I'm parking but it happened once while I was driving and when it happens all it does is rev the engine with no movement. Anyone else had this kind of problem?

 

^^^ You need to search my friend. The reason your car is doing that because you clutch packs are on it's way out, meaning your transmission is going out. Replace the third and fourth gear pressure switches (search) and drain your fluid and do a 3x3 (3 times with 3 quarts) or Redline racing atf fluid. (search) hope this helps. Keep us posted.
