'04 TL A/C blows warm

heat works fine. it blows strong (on heat and ac setting) It just don't blow cold air for ac. how will I know if I need a Freon recharge or if my compressor is shot? If you don't see the clutch spin then stop spin again and so on and so forth does that mean its the compressor is blown?

Dealing with this now...
Could just be the clutch assembly and stator.

Mine was doing the same. Took it to the dealer and they quoted me $825 to replace the clutch coil. After some research, I discovered that the OEM clutch coil is $100 from Acura and a DIY thread here on AZ. According to the thread it should take me approximately 3 hours to do the swap. I will be doing the replacement this weekend.

I wouldn't condemn the compressor/coil until the system is tested. The clutch will kick in/out if there is a low
charge. Attach gauges to the system to see if the refrigerant is "low" and go from there. The A/C system is
a closed system, so if low, there is a leak that needs to be found and repaired, or if a charge is added it will
leak once again. Do not introduce any sealants into the system. If charge is sufficient then one needs to look
for the mechanical defect that could be the cause.

Mine is now out as well. Going to get it tested next week, and hopefully it is a cheap fix.

Probably going to sell the car either way.

Why not go with a whole new compressor, and an OEM one at that? The originally supplied Denso unit with the clutch pre-installed is $216 from rockauto.

Eh, it's time. Seven years with me, 13 on this earth. I'll sell it to some young moron who fits in better on the board.

Results of the test will just determine how soon and for how much. Mechanically it is very sound. Paint needs someone more experienced with detailing than I am.

Time to save up for a truck.

Compressor still good, no leaks that they could find. Recharged and GTG, at least for now. Dye was added if it happens again.
