The cabin does look pretty good in these pictures. I guess that's why the car does well in crash tests.
I'm not so sure these people were drunk though. The way people are driving in my area is getting very bad. Definitely not drunks but "stupids"! The frequency of moronic moves is just unbelievable. In my short 26 mile round trip commute to work, I usually see some terrible things. Near accidents every day!
Just last week I was passed through an Tee intersection on my street with a three way stop at 8AM. I was slowing down, going straight, when a woman (and passenger) passed me and blew through the stop at about 35mph. She didn't even touch the brakes for the second identical intersection 200ft later and accelerated to about 50mph on the narrow 30mph side street. The street isn't wide enough to even have a center line painted on it. It was also a school day but must have been in between bus stop pickup times as I didn't see any kids.
I'm glade this car has such a good safety rating. Atleast my odds are improved a little against the morons!
Frontal Crash:
Driver 5
Passenger 5
Side Crash:
Front Seat 4
Rear Seat 5
Rollover Resistance
Rollover Resistance 5
Crashworthiness
Overall Crashworthiness 5
Structure & Safety Cage 5
Head & Neck 5
Chest 5
Left Leg & Foot 5
Right Leg & Foot 5
Restraints 5

these are not junk yards dude. these are salvage yard's from where dealers buy cars from. people wreak them insurance company auction's them off and makes money that way. you have to have a Dealer's licence, Dismantling licence, a yard for cars to keep and a buch of other shit to buy from them.

First one looks like it was a head on with a 18 wheeler. Surprised to see that mos of the cars seem to have held up well. Shows how these cars a well built. For the second set, kinda weird how 2 of the cars seem to have the same type of damage. Hope no one was hurt, or killed, in those cars.
Also, would a mechanic have access to these auctions?

no, no mechanic. u need to have a dismantling licence and for that u need a junk yard and all sorts of other mechaniry. plus u need to be a state authrized used car dealer as well and some other licences as well.

About two months ago i had seen a 3g wraped around a front of a 18 wheeler. the picture of the car in at the auction but u could easily tell what happen and that shit looked horible. there was blood all over on the inside of that car. it looked like the car slipped on a freeway probbly going 80 on a corner and hit a truck side ways . the car was twisted in ways which i didnt think possible. i am trying to find that stupid picture as we speak.
