where oh where did my exhaust tips go?!

i got my a-spec kit installed about a month ago and ever since, i hated how much the exhaust tips were hidden....

sooo... i finally had the time to go to a local muffler shop to fix the irritation (and since my car was on a lift already, i did the stage 1 exhaust. haha. peace out, mid-muffler)..

so here's the before..

and the after...

so now that they're out in the open, i didn't realize how effin' dirty the tips were. yuuck.

so with a little research in the 3G garage, i picked me up a can of this stuff at walmart for $1.79...

so once again.. the before..

and the AFTER.

thank you AZine for existing, and all the members on here that gave me some guidance with my ride. haha. thanks for looking!

i could be wrong but it looks like ur aspec in the back is installed a couple inches below where it should be. it looks really off. and is also why you had this hidden muffler issue to begin with. it's like a kids sagging diaper that is hanging off their butt.

Thats what it looks like to me too .... the lip is supposed to cover the ridge on the bumper. I wonder if the OP installed it without taking the bumper off and utilizing the 4 alignment holes etc.

This is where its supposed to go

yeah dude, the aspec kit is WAY off. It needs to go along the lip in the original bumper.

This mod has been done before by a few AZiners and I considered doing it before I had my ATLPs.

But I agree with the posters above, I don't think your lip was installed correctly. For sure the tips look sinked in when you install a rear A-Spec. (I hated that too.) But not THAT sinked in as your first pic. Well the tips look way better now.

i didn't have to take off the bumper to put on the A spec lip, just need someone else to do the other side while you "stick" it on.

excellent to hear! i was afraid you might say "it doesnt bother me" or something like that, many here seem to. hopefully your tailpipes dont stick out TOO much now! i dont think they will, i hope not at least. and sorry for the saggy diaper analogy, it was the first thing that came to mind as the father of a 2yr old. perhaps double chin wouldve been more approp. anyway GL....hope it comes out nice.

oh trust me.. it bothered me the moment i got my FIRST feedback about the rear lip being installed incorrectly. haha. and as for the saggy diaper comment, i couldn't have said it better myself.

apologies for the late update guys. i had the rear-lip installed CORRECTLY last week and then went out of town last minute right after. because my rear lip was installed wrong to begin with, my tips that i had extended a week or two ago looked really bad as a result. YIKES...

so i went back to the muffler shop in my area. i told the dude that helped me last time the whole story about the rear-lip and he got my tips fixed within a few minutes and charged me minimal..

thanks again everyone for the comments & concerns.

really easy to use. i got some a while back after reading about it here. works real well, can find at wal mart or grocery store cleaning isle.

grab a rag, wet the rag, dump a liberal amount of bkf on the wet rag, just rub it all over the exhaust tips, inside and out real good, then grab a clean wet rag and wipe it clean then dry, follow up with some high temp carnuba wax to help prevent future stains.

Yes, you do.

Mid-Muffler delete + aftermarket resonator = good sound.

I wish stores in Canada had BKF =(

Someone send me one hahaha

I heard that if you only do the MM delete then you can barely hear any difference at all. How loud is it?

Thats correct. MM delete alone is barely noticeable. Its a deeper tone then stock, but not by very much. Most people wont even be able to tell the difference.

Regardless, its a cheap $20 mod so why not!??! I had my tips done and my MM delete for $50.
