thanks...i've followed some of your posts about xlr8 quads and they are arriving on monday by fedex after a looong and patient wait
haha yea i wouldn't have gone for anything but the 6 speed...stick is all i've ever driven
thanks! more to come very soon...
thanks! both the license plate LEDs and the reverse LEDs are from v-leds.com. i highly recommend them, they make it so much easier to use the back up camera

it's definitely the trickiest install i have had yet, but it's not impossible. the reason i say it was tricky is because 1) i had factory nuts that were tack welded on and i couldnt remove them, so i had to do the entire install inside my car whereas other people can remove the whole system and install on a workbench, and 2) i had a hell of a time getting the bushings off so i had to flip the shifter case upside down and work inside the car as well.
the last hard part is getting that little rubber ball off the shifter and onto the new one...but all of this is worth it for sure!! just give yourself half a day in case and you won't regret the mod

fog light change and hardwired radar detector
i changed the fog lights a long time ago and just wanted to put it into my progress thread. these are the hoen xenonmatch fog lights, the install was pretty easy just pulling back the wheel well. the color match is pretty good but the light output isn't as bright as stock. being in cali we don't get tons of fog so they work for me!
day light comparison (new on the left, stock on the right)
night comparison
i also wanted a new project so reading some threads on here and just thinking about hardwiring the radar detector i did the following mod. i moved the vsa button to the spare slot and completely gutted (drilling and exacto-knifing) the spare button. then i took apart the remote mute/hardwire kit for my belkin v995 radar detector and made it fit into the gutted spare button.
getting the actual fit was pretty tough because of the way the spare button holds in place in the dash is with some tabs so it took a few tries to get it all to line up and the mute button working.
then i powered the detector with an "add a circuit" and tied it into the window lock fuse. so if i want to turn it off i just lock the windows and vice versa (helpful when in a construction zone or near an accident with lots of police and the detector keeps going off). then i ran the line up the pillar, through the ceiling liner and out near the mirror. the detector sits just to the left of the rear view mirror...i love how the entire project came out and people say it almost looks factory!!
gutted spare dash button
power from window lock fuse
and the final product!!
next update will be xlr8 j-pipe and res. quads install/review!

Crazy work schedule is endin soon so I should be able to get some xlr8 videos up soon. Last night I drove one of our vendors around from Japan and he loved that I had an Acura. Everytime I gassed it he kept saying "oh my god I love that sound!" Long story short if you are thinking about the xlr8 resonated quads...do it, it sounds amazing!!!

miscellaneous mods!
i haven't put any updates here in a long time, so i put together some of my last few minor mods and made this update: isimple, dropstop, cupholder trim (OEM), and LEDs for the glove box and arm rest (only 2 LEDs I never installed since they were more complicated)
enjoy!
____________
getting bored without new mods so i looked around a bit and found one that i had my eye on for a while...isimple! after talking to members about usaspec and isimple, i went with isimple and i have to say i love it. so nice to just plug in the ipod and charge it, and control it with the navi/steering wheel...wish it didn't beep everytime i skipped a song, but overall it's awesome.
installed in the trunk
routed through the trunk to the rear seats and then it went under the rear seats, under the carpet and up through the access hole for the center console

in my search for new mods, i came across princelybug's progress thread and talked to him about dropstop. after talking with him and looking it up online, i decided to go with it. i also love this minor mod! it basically is wetsuit material with foam that fits in your gap between the seat and the center console and keeps anything from falling in there. it still allows you to move the seat also. it comes with 2 so i put one in the driver seat gap of my car and one in my fiancee's car since my passenger seat gap has the windshield shade. it blends in well with the black interior too
seat gap
dropstop
installed
it works!
_______________
searched around some more and saw some OEM cupholder trim that vladkarnafel had put in and after talking with him i decided to do this one too. this CF trim matches the other CF trim inside the type s. it was super easy to put on and covers the flat black trim on the center console...puts a very nice consistent look throughout that center console now
old trim
long view of old trim
new trim (OEM)

new trim and isimple

finally decided to complete my LED setup and replace the glove box and the center console light. they were both much easier than i imagined and took me about 5 min. didn't take the glove box off, i just let it hang in place (supporting it with my knee). the new lights are much brighter and look better.
light comparison
glove box new
center console old
center console new (i put lots of stuff in there to show you how bright it is)
that's all for now, let me know if you have any questions. and yes i still owe a video/audio of my xlr8 set up...i suck
enjoy!

thanks! the SS is so sick, it makes driving a stick that much more fun, especially when coupled with a heavy knob

thanks! haha i keep going back and forth, sometimes the kit looks great on the wdp then other times it looks very different and cheap like.
either way i think if i do get the kit i would just modify it personally to fit on, some good threads on here that show how to do it.
we'll have to see who gets it done first....haha

updates! white calipers and roof spoiler
updates that were long overdue!! updates include painting the brembos white and adding a roof spoiler
i painted my calipers white using the brush on G2 kit (good quality paint vs. duplicolor) and didn't want to take apart my brakes. it's not super clean but good enough for me. i used brembo decals 4" wide x 1.05" tall from ebay
front
rear
final up close
final far
also added the M3 spoiler from bmwoemshop on ebay, has a good complementing angle compared to the type s trunk spoiler

thanks!
yea it took me some time to make the decision and it's not my favorite mod, but i do think it improves the look some. you can always install and take off later if you want, not hard
thanks!
they really are...they have saved me a bunch of times with coins, my phone, and a whole box of altoids haha
