Want to see your TL-S in Carbon Bronze with Tint

Hi all,

I am a new owner of an 07 TL-S in Carbon Bronze. I want to tint the windows, but would like to see what percentage will look good. In the past I always went with a really dark tint, but on this car with this color, I am thinking about going lighter.

Please post pics of your car. Make sure to mention the percent of tint.

35%....all the way around, keep in mind the lighter interior will always make the tints look lighter. Nice job on the CBP!!!

I have the CBP with Taupe interior. Just a thought on the option I went with - Formula One makes a 30%...it's a happy medium IMO.

What did you decide Pakimunda? Can we get a pic? I just got my CBP Saturday and trying to decide between 30% and 20% for my install tomorrow.

I'll be sure to make sure they are doing behind the whole gasket and under the brake light.

I ended up going with 35% on the front two and 20% in the rear. I had to go with 35% in the front because they said this is the limit in Texas and that I may have problems getting it inspected if I go darker. 35% all around would be too light IMO. Once installed, I dont notice a big difference between the front/rear shades.

I've been flying in/out of town for the past two weeks so haven't been able to take any pics yet. I will do this, this weekend and post them.

Now, about the rear gasket thing, I checked with 5 different tint shops and all said they will not be able to go all the way back under the gasket. One of them offerred that they can try and take the door panel off, then remove the gasket and see if they can get it done this way, but I did not want them doing this in case they cant put everything back correctly.

They were able to go under the 3rd brake light. However when I drove at night, I noticed a glare on the back window. I checked the 3rd light and noticed it was not pushed up all the way. I pushed it up and it locked in. No more glare.

One other thing I noticed last time I was at home was that when I rolled the window down for the first time, it made some light scratchs on the tint. I think this is related to the dirt that gets stuck on the inside of the window [gasket ?] at the bottom like some people on the forum were talking about. I need to get this checked out this weekend.

So did you allow them to tint the car and not go under the gasket? I went to two shops today to get my tint done (decided 30% all around) but they wouldn't go under the gasket so I didn't get it done...

Waiting for someone to give me a better shop.

Yep, I got it tinted. Like I mentioned before, I went to 5 different shops and got the same response and it makes sense too. If you see them doing the tint, they have to clean it up really good to avoid getting bubbling/peeling etc... I cant see this being easly done with a gasket as tight as this.

offtopic but didnt want to start a whole new thread...
does darker tint = more UV and heat blocked or does it not matter how dark the tint is?

I dont believe the darkness determines the protection. As long as you have a good quality tint, you will get the protection. The darkness is more for looks/privacy etc...

Tint

Sorry haven't been login for a bit but the tint is a 32 front and 20 rear and 50 for the winshield. I used to have a 20 all around plus the 50 in front until I got pulled over twice in the same month haha

I still need to get my windows tinted. I have the CBP with the taupe interior. See look,

I am planning on getting the windshield tinted 50% which is barely noticeable but will affect the overall shade all around so.......

I still need to decide whether I should get 20% or 35% all around. I want to the "nice" look of the car without it starting to look pretty ghetto. I too have used to tint my cars 20% and darker but don't want it to look too dark. What do you guys suggest considering I'm tinting the windshield @ 50%, have a light interior, and am considering the 35% or 20%?

I asked the tint shop to slap on scraps of the two tint shades I'm considering to see what would look better.

Views from inside out:

In this picture, the tint on the right is 20% and the one on the left is 35%. I like the color of the 35% but also like how dark the 20% is.

This picutre is is close up of the one above.

Views from the outside looking in:

I tried to show some sun reflection. The tint on the left is 20 and 35 on the right.

Kind of the same as above

Different view. 20% on left, 35% on right

Let me know what you think will look "better", classy, and more importantly, flow with the rest of the car(color, overall)

Thanks.

The day I picked her up:

and few hours later!!!

The tint was a bad job but it's only visible from the inside, I plan on getting it redone shortly!

Finally got it tinted with 18% carbon all around. Pretty dark.

Even its pretty dark, you can see out just fine.

Makes it dark inside which is what I really wanted.

cnauticav: Looks nice. How does it look from a distance?

mbkulafu: Is that 35% in the front and 20% in the rear? I went with this as well.

Today was really sunny and from a distance you can see through the two door windows but its still dark enough. At dusk, it just looks black and would only be able to see my silhouette. At night, its completely blacked out and can't see inside at all without putting your face to the windows.
