Retired!!! ON TOP!!!
iTrader: (1)
I've played around with the stiffness settings of the air runner struts... when you set it on max stiff (setting #4) and ride around with a coilover drop of 3"... you're pretty stiff... but once you ride lower it get's a little better...
Currently I'm riding on #2 in the rear and #3 in the front... at ride height (y'all seen the video and rolling pictures)... it feels like Koni Yellows on half (stiff) and half (soft) setting... handles pretty good... Had the car up to 140 mph and I felt very confident on the NJ Turnpike and I-87 in the Bronx... I'm also rolling on 235/35 & 265/30 tires...
Air Runner built a pretty good Air Strut, IMHO. Even my wife doesn't complain

yea, no doubt. when or if i go air, its definately going to be air runner...they make a quality product. is it stiff enough to allow you to run as low as they do in japan or what not on a static drop?

yes. When i was driving the car with the stock type-s wheels while waiting for the Work wheels, i was driving lower than i was when i was on coilovers as for stiffness i honestly dont remember the difference. If you want to ride super low like the japan guys than you are going to need coilovers like http://www.jic-magic.com/.

here is this weeks update. The rears are done but it looks like the front is going to need alot more work. If i were to leave the fronts the way they are now i wouldnt be able to dump all the air. So hopefully they can come up with a solution to get the wheels to tuck, which i think will be to cut the front fender, stretch it to place, add metal to complete the fender and than cut the front bumper, fit it to place and than patch and fill the bumper. But when it is all done i think it is going to look sick.

Damn kid, I gotta give it to you...nice job!! My personal opinion though about whats going on with your fronts is that before you cut up your car more than you need to and do crazy body work that may be unnecessary (and may still come out not looking right) is you should get different size tires for the front without even thinking twice about it. The reason I say that is because that side wall is waaay to thick for what you want to do and it is actually so thick that it does not match up with the way the rear tires look (obviously its a staggered setup so i know you are running different tire sizes front/rear but the sidewalls on the fronts are way to much) so I would say lower profile front tires, which will give a lil more stretch, not that you need it lol but it would help in this case cause ur going nutty haha and the other major thing is a camber kit for the fronts. Either ways man I am loving this build, sick ride!! Keep up the good work and I hope it all turns out the way YOU want...

holy sh*t justin your TL is gonna look hella sick! haha damn props to you, your really doing it big. i cant wait to see the car after its finished! btw how much is the body work gonna cost you?

Thanks but this wait is killing me i want it dont now lol but i know perfection takes time
Thanks Kale
Hopefully this is my last project.
The fronts need major work to tuck the wheel. So a few more weeks at the shop im hoping
Thanks for the suggestions but the fronts are 235/35/19 which is a pretty nice stretch already, and as for the front camber kit i think i would only be able to achieve -2 degrees which would only give me probably a 1/4" more of clearance at the fender. I would rather pay a little more money on body work than buy 2 new tires and front camber kit. But thanks for your suggestions it is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Brad. If it wasnt for you and jodan being on air i would have never even considered it. Think of it like this. January of this year all i had done was engine mods, exhaust, coilovers and wasnt even thinking about wheels. 12 months later i did a whole makeover with aggerssive wheels and body work. Body work cost wise is not so bad so far, lets just say it is less than a set of new Work wheels
Thanks
Thanks Kale

hahaha yeaaaa those fronts are wayyy to wide for a simple pull :P those tires are already a good stretch, and anything less than a 35 profile is asking for bent rims...and weds aint cheap. looks great so far! Also, seems youre getting an excellent deal on bodywork..tho i dont know if your price took into account paint yet.

the body work looks really good... i was a little nervous for you when i saw the first pics of the quater panels....lol but its coming out great and i cant wait to see the finished product

Ill post more pics tomorrow, i want to do a last check on the body work before paint.
Thanks its been a long process and im excited for the finish product.
Thanks
If you plan it right anyone can do it. I just had to really stick to a budget to get here. It was small sacrifices that made it possible.
i was once young with no money watching all the older guys do all the mods i wanted to do.

Offset means nothing without width. If you tell us how wide the rims are, a lot of us here will be able to help you out.
