Ugh WTF is this???? ****NOT FOR THE WEAK STOMACH****
Well, today I was installing my trunk cold cathodes, and had to unplug the negative on the battery.
Opened the hood - and I think I shivered HARD.
Spoiler: You're about to see dead mice.
Click the back button if you feel uncomfortable before scrolling down...
You have been warned.
RIP little guys
I gagged - it reeeks!!!!!
Anywho, this is the first time...
Anyone else have this happen before?
Any tips on removing the burnt in residue with ease?

HowTF does that happen? Okay, they're looking for shelter and warmth, maybe they all went up there after you had driven the car, but I'd think there's enough room between the hood and the engine for them to move instead of getting burned. Sorry, GP, got no advice on dealing with that mess, but I feel for you. Good luck with it.

Pressure wash my engine bay too?
Next thing you know the pressure washer flings the remains of the mice at my face
Thanks for the advice!

I don't even know how they became flat?
Maybe they were sleeping when I started the car?
The engine doesn't get hot that fast though.
No wonder why it smelled bad. I thought it was just trash in my garage!

nice cookin' lol.. not sure what really to use to get that off.. maybe like some suggested a degreaser and maybe instead of pressure washing you could get on the gloves and scrub it with something.. yack, sorry bout what happened! GL, hope you succeed in getting rid of that mess too!

scrubbing it off eweewew
It took enough nerves for me to scrape off the mice haha
I know
My engine bay REEKS.
I didn't smell anything while driving.
I DID smell something gross when I park in my garage but I always thought it was stinky trash.
The smell in my garage started a week ago so maybe I've been driving like this for a week.

how many were there...it looks like 4 or 5...i'd be looking around your engine bay a little more...make sure they didn't have a snack while they were in there. you may have to consider dropping an odor bomb in your garage to get rid of the stench.
bust out your rubber gloves and simple green with a scrubbie brush or something to get the remains off your engine and other parts. GL with the clean up.

the overexplainer
pretty sure as long as a rat's head can fit the body can fit as well so they probably squeezed in under the hood. Looks like they played house and the mama and papa mice got the battery cover. Kids got the valve cover/intake manifold.
Good luck cleaning it up, man. Probably cooked them up good while you were driving.
I would get some kind of anti bacterial spray and spray areas down. Never know what those things are carrying. I'd also take the time to inspect your wiring harnesses as well.

2 on the manifold, 2 on the battery cover.
Thanks for the tip!
Funny thing is, I just bought a bottle of Simple Green a couple days ago lol
First time using the produt and stuff works wonders!
Wonder how it will do with the remains

That's fn crazy!!! I would check the rest of your car. Under the carpet check for any lumps. Check that they didn't chew any wires. That sh*t is gross!!! If this happened in your garage I would set some traps in your garage before you find an infestation in your car. Any way seeing those mices reminds me of the mices from the Kia soul commercial lol:p

You've seen these threads before, right:

I guess it's pretty common for mice to get up there and set up housekeeping.
Doubt if they planned on a BBQ though.

keep it clean
That's nasty. I've seen something similar where a mouse died after spending the night in my cousin's exhaust. Luckly for him, the exhaust was not on his EVO, but I digress. The mouse was flat too, I think it's a part of decomposition. You can see all of the fluids leaking on the battery cover. I know the TL runs hot, but dam those mice were FUBAR Private Ryan!
Last, I recommend you scrap what you can since mice are notorious for harboring diseases.
