Trunk Light Mod!!

Trunk Light Mod!!
I saw a thread about someone who used (2) 12" CCFL tubes for trunk lighting and I decided to go the same route. Normally the ballast that come with these things are very low quality so I wouldn't recommend using cheap CCFL tubes for lights that are constantly on because they will fail. Anyways I wanted a clean install so I took an old bumper signal lens from my Acura Legend and cut it to shape and cut a section out of the trunk liner to accommodate the lens. Its super bright and just the beginning of my lighting conversion. Cant wait to to change the rest of my bulbs!

I will be using LEDs for everything else but the trunk is much larger and CCFLS's distribute the light much better. This setup is much brighter then a simple LED replacement unless I used a high power LED but this is a much simpler and cheaper to do.
Wait till you see the reverse lights i'm building I never use PNP bulbs in my experience they all suck are made of cheap leds run at their max and start to die and flicker within a month to a year depending on how cheap they are. Buying quality LEDs from Cree, philips, HP and making your own boards is by far the best way ensure they will pretty much last forever

I have been running HIDs in my reverse lights!! I dunno if LEDs will ever be brighter then the HIDs. lol
Made some DIY for the reverse HIDs if you are interested. Also a tailgater switch mod to go with it. Search my user name and you will find it!

Ya i'v seen the HIDs in the reverse lights and thats not too crazy for me I would do it but the only thing I don't like is HIDs have a warm up time, it takes a few seconds for the color to adjust to get to full brightness and that usually all the time you need your backup lights anyways, I think this would really annoy me. These are 3W high powered LEDs they will provide almost equal usable light as HIDs for this application and will be at full brightness instantly.
