i had the RJ rear but the mounting points were the same. loosened not completely removed. i did one side at a time, loosened one side replaced the light put it back and the did the same for the other side i DID NOT COMPLETELY REMOVE THE WHOLE BUMPER.
here it is one side loosened and pulled of enough to get at the mounting bolts
mounting bolts for the tail lights remove them first them the bracket from the light later once its off the car
loosen and remove the four nuts on the mounting boltds behined the light unit, pull back the trunk liner and you'll see them
the light unit is the same remove the four screws on the LED unit
unplug it here
run the connecting wire through the new LED unit same way you removed it, don't forget to switch out all the rubber seals from your old light to your new one, and reassemble your car , took me about a little more than an hour

OK here is my 07 TL with the Type S lights. I love it. Thanks to the procedure here it was not bad to do. I think these lights are much nicer than the base lights.
(These shots were rushed and the car was dirty, better shots to follow)

hi guys, i installed the tail lights on my car today (i'm a noob and it took me 3 hours and i vow to never try it again). I notice that the bottom of the light doesn't really sit flush with the bumper. the lights like 2 or 3mm out.
can you guys help with what i may have done wrong. the though of taking the bumper apart again is killing me i already tried tightening the 4 screws behind the light and it helped a bit but its still not flush and i do'nt think i can tighten it anymore. If i push on the lens really hard i can make it sit flush,.,any help is appreciated. thanks

oh, sorry, it was either because:
a: the type S bumper is slightly different and thus the lens doesn't sit totally flush (it's only out by like 2 mm near the trunk or
b: i messed up somewhere and would have to take it all apart and retighten the metal holder thing under the tail light (i though i made it pretty tight though)
I'm hoping it's "a" its really not noticeable unless your looking for it but i'm a bit crazy about panels lining up perfectly n stuff normally. guess i'll live with it.

fellas, i need help badddddd, i just got my type-s tail lights in and i cant loosen my bumper enough in order to change them out, im tryin to read the diagram provided but i still cant get it off, in order to loosen it, do i have to take all of the clips off of the bottom of the car? there also seems to be some screws behind the wheels that i cant get too, do i have to put the car on a lift to loosen the bumper up? shamefully, the only spots i could find where the clips on the bottom and the one screw that shows once you open the trunk. any help would be appreciated since i want to put my new tail lights on very bad......

Thank you
Paz, Thank you, great DIY.
I just bought my 06 TL last week, I had not owned it for one day when I was ordering the TL-s taillights from Hondacura world.
(This is my priority due to TL being involved in a Fender bender where the right tail light was chipped, hardly noticeable, but convinced my self I needed new tails....)
Can't wait for the weekend to perform my first MOD.

Were you able to take any pictures during the installation of the side markers? I am not sure how to remove the black plugs inside the trunk (plugs holding lining), I do not want to damage any of the plugs? Can you explain how to remove these?

IT IS SOOOOO simple...
You just unscrew the actual bigger pieces, and pop of the tabs with a screwdrive on the other pieces. Pull the carpet back away, dont worry you wont screw it up it is simple.
You have to kinda gently force the old wiring harness into the new sidemarker, but it fits. It will then snap in to the gap in the rear fender.
Dont worry it is super easy and took me like 20 minutes.
Very simple you only need a screwdriver and two hands

Are these OEM tailights? If so, is the price include a pair of taillights?

GODZILLA & 3G TL
Nice choice man. That was the first mod I did with my AM...it flows with the car so well. I thought it was a pain to install, but worth the work when I was done. Now to get the damn sidemarkers... Sick rims and stereo setup too!
