Tint on saturday.....20% vs 35%
#2
I'm looking at both of those tint options myself. I have looked in the pictures thread, but sometimes you just don't know what % you are looking. Any pictures would be much appreciated!!

Safety Car
This is Gdog's sweet ride. Sorry Gdog, I thought your car would serve as a good example.
He has 30% front and 20% rears. The difference is more noticeable in the second picture.

i think it is all depends on what kind of tint you use too...the one i have on my car look almost the same even though they are 35 infront and 20 all the way around back....it looks much darker than 35 though because TL glass already have color in them. If you live in a sunny state then you must be some good quality tint...higher heat blocking % not the light blocking %.....i have atharcite color and the tint dude hook me up good..it matches my car pretty well...little hint of silver but not much at all

One on the right for me
Ignoring the awful fact that my car needs to be lowered....
I used 3M tint, its the darkest they have. Are you planning on doing front and rear windows or just the rear? I dont know what % mine is, the shop I used just had a bunch of different examples on the wall. Anyway, ths is probably too dark but just for reference point.

I went with 35% on my ASM because I used Pinnicle F1 as I needed a ceramic film [navi] and it was either 35% or 15%. My last car had 20% and I got pulled over by the popo a few times as where I am there is no exact law about % - up to the cops discression. The only other thing that I find different is it's easier to see out of the 35% at night. Not a big diff if your in the city all the time, but if you drive outside the city a lot it makes a bigger diff.
Also, keep in mind that how "dark" the tint looks is also a function of the colour of your interior, the colour of your exterior, and the size of the greenhouse in your car.

I just picked up my '06 NBP TL last Saturday and she's heading to the tint shop tomorrow. I'm going with 35% up front and 15% in the back. My roomate has it like that on his black MazdaSpeed Protege and it looks nice. Moleskin and scratching aside, I'm excited to darken her up a bit.

Be sure to do a search on mole skins before you tint. The TL has some really harsh plastic window seals in the door that will scratch tint real bad unless your tint installer puts on mole skins. The usualy piece inside cars are plastic with a soft felt on it, but our TLs have no felt, strait up hard plastic. I learned the hard way. there are numerous threads covering this buit I neglected to use the search feature before my install. ahhhh. I got the legal 20% all t6he way around, it looks pretty good. i would like darker but wanted to stay legal. BEN
edit- oops sorry, just read on a previous post someone mentioned the moleskin already.

If you want to check out 5% on all the windows & 30% on the windshield, go to Acurazine meets. Go to GSP Pics Meet, check out Redondo Red TL Tints.

No photos but I started w/ 3M 20% on all except windshield. Looked great but my 55 year old eyes could not see out the front sides at night. Took it back od got 35% for the front doors. Still looks real good but now I can see out. Any front door after market tint is illegal in CA. Do get moleskin.

For those with Navi some say that Metallic tint film interfers with the signal to the navi unit under the rear deck. Some say it's a problem and others report no problem using metallic film. That said, to be safe I went with a ceramic [non-metallic film] which is slightly more expensive but guaranteed not to interfer with my navi which is what I was looking for . Doing a search on this will yield you tons of more detailed information if you wish to learn about it in more detail.

If they don't have it I think I would shop elsewhere.

I have the WDP and I want to get the metallic reflective tint...the one that looks like mercury, but I dont know the name of it...nor do I know what brand is good, and finally I dont know how it will look on the WDP...anyone tried it?
I have a non navi so reflectivity is not an issue.
