they are 194 Superstar 1LEDs. (Supposely the brightest and the widest for its size)
Got these for the city light on my old Audi's Ecode. But never got a chance to put it on becuz i sold it.

This was my first mod on 06WDP/Ebony/navi/full aspec

Too bright for my taste. The top of the bumper throws everything off.

I agree too bright, especially with the reflection off the top of the bumper.

I agree too, the brightness off the bumper makes it look stupid.

maybe it looks "stupid" because of the dark orange lighting where the photos were taken. I bet on the streets or in different lighting it could look pretty awesome.

I'm using this same bulb for the same purpose in my 300M. However, I can only easily use one bulb, and I have to modify it by turning it 90 degrees. My car is black, so the lighting up of the top of my bumper isn't bad. My only complaint is that the first Superwhite Superstar flickered and died much too early. I'm seeing how long the second one lasts. The amber Superstars are still working in my side marker turn signals.

http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09837.html
http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09839.html

It lights up much better than this in real life:

http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc01038.html

I might rework my license plate light to use a double LED Superstar festoon:

http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm

As autolumination.com gets these in and runs out, they seem to update their website right away; either they don't do backorders, or they're never quite sure if they'll get more in. The Light Tower II bulbs are, like the Superstars. fantastic:

http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09775.html
http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09791.html

The Switchbacks are really nice:

http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09818.html
http://public.fotki.com/Scotian/300m.../dsc09819.html

Aside from my love of LEDs, the reason to do this is to light up my new Support Our Troops license plate. The best thing about these plates is that the letters/numbers are hard to read because of the red stripe across the center. :-)

It looks pretty nice. I'm thinking it may not be as bright in person, though. The taillights look like the brakes are on, so they're showing up brighter than normal, too, so the picture is just over-exposed.

Too bright. Unless it is actually over exposed ... then it does look good. ha. I do like the Lexus's tag lights tho. Those own.

Did you try those 194 5led matrix bulbs from the same site? It seems as if they would disperse the light better.

Wow, those are a little too bright. Reflecting off the bumper is a little too much. I too have white LEDs for license plate but just enough to get a light blue reflection of the plates at night.

Cool bulbs however.

I just got these superstar led's from autoluminations.

I had the led's from brian at tec-toyz before, and I cant really tell the difference. One thing is that the led's I got from autoluminations are not matching in whiteness. One is slightly off-shade compared to the other. They are pretty much the same as the ones from Brian, but with Brians they were a perfect match, and they were a slight hue bluer.

Im still not satisfied with the outcome, and wish to have the exact same BRIGHTNESS as the lexus plate holders. Is there anyway we can mod it so we can buy the lights from the lexus' plate holders?

Jeebus!! It's like a rash of LED threads this week.

CCFL might be brighter - theres a DIY in the 3G Garage. Or PC Board LED's if you can find a way to make them fit.

Why did you take your plate off for the pics? Can you take another one so we can see what it looks like with the plate on to get a better idea of brightness.
If you did that for security purposes just to let you know hundreds of people can see your license plates everytime you drive ya know LOL. Never understood that.

I've been using these for a month now:
V-LEDS HID WHITE 6 LED M-SMT FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 2825

Picture is from Iphone and overexposed. It looks better in person. Compared to my roommates IS250, the brightness as well as spread/dispersion is equal if not brighter than Lexus. Although since they're 6000k, they're slightly bluer than the Lexus ones but nothing ridiculous. Also, the lexus ones also put light onto the rear bumper like you see on my TL, so it's no different.
The flanked type in the plate looks much better than the License plate specific ones with the heat sink. I've tried both. The heat sink ones are more directional since there's only 1 single focal point of light vs 6 LEDs being spread across the certain board.
