glad to see that your family was safely inside the home when this happened.

sorry to see it though to such a nice car.

i wouldn't rule out the fact that a dui investigation is not going on. who knows, maybe the LEO took him to the hospital and had blood drawn to find out what he was on? but then again, it is kind of weird that the cop gave him a ride and not the ambulance....

Wow...that really blows. If there is a bright side...at least no one was in your car. Hope all goes well.

update us on the process soon as the adjuster gets there

ps. which insurane co you have?

Mother....

I hate when shit like this happens. I just freaking saw this car not too long ago.

Hope you bounce back from this man. Glad you or your family weren't in the vehicle operating. Would be a mess.

Damn that definitely sucks.

We had a similar thing happen in our neighborhood. Our neighbor had a friend parked on the side of the road. A drunk bastard hit it and drove it 200ft until it hit a utility pole.

Hope things work out for you.

Dawm.....I hope the insurance company totals this car. Im a insurance appraiser myself and im not sure if this vehicle is a total loss. Its borderline. Trunk, quarterpanel, rear body panel and floor, Rear bumper assy, R exhaust, L headlamp, Hood just looking at the exterior need to be changed. I dont know bro good luck with this one

This are some pics from today

The worst thing is that the car is going to be sitting out front the whole week before the insurance guy comes, so I have to look at it everyday...

Thanks everyone for your comments and concerns. At this point, we still don't know what's going to happen. I do think (and hope) that it will get totalled. It's been more difficult for my wife than for me. She still wants to punch the guy in the face.

To answer some questions: the insurance is Allstate, the car is an '06/w Nav 30,500 miles, airbags didn't deploy, the Nav doesn't work, Varianzas are fine but the front driver wheel has a small curb rash from getting pushed onto the sidewalk, if it gets totalled I'm gonna take the wheels off and the intake, I will prolly sell the intake but will keep the wheels. I'll be buying a car for these wheels

After looking at the car this morning you could tell that the whole thing is uneven all over. The doors are all crooked, both front fenders and hood are fucked up. Based on what I saw, in parts only it will be: three doors, the whole rear clip, both front fenders, hood, front bumper, shiiiit... a brand new car.

Once I hear from the adjuster, I'll let u guys know.

Wow... sorry to hear/see about your loss.
Looks like it may be written off as total'd to me...
If it is, I'd suggest you take off what's good and sell it off.

you wanna get them to come look at it quick? Monday morning call your bodyshop and have the car towed there. After calling them, call your insurance company and tell them its now at the body shop because you dont want a totaled car in your driveway.

Cars that people have towed to their houses sit and wait for an appraisal, cars that are sitting at tow yards or body shops accruing storage charges get appraised much quicker

-Buy the car back from insurance (usually a couple hundred bucks)
-Pull the motor and trans and put it in a cheap Civic
-Strip the car down to nothing, sell all parts and sell the body for metal ($$$)
-Buy TL-S

Two badass cars and some extra $$!!

The navigation unit costs $$$. It's considered total loss no matter what. Damage to the front is costly too.

I could see you in a carbon bronze TL-S with those wheels.

With one of my old semi-beater cars, what they did was brand the title, gave me KBB (8k) for it, then I paid 200 dollars for it and got it back and fixed it for around 500 bux (broken windows due to hurricane). Like the poster above said, buy it back and sell off some of the parts. If it has a quartz or black interior, I def. will contact you about some interior pieces.

I think alot of people would agree, for one thats good no one in your family was hurt, two you should buy the car back and part it. I think you already have a few people on the list for parts...

p.s. if the car isnt totaled, make it totaled if you know what i mean

Can't believe they would immediately put the guy in the car withouht ANY sort of tests, unless it was WAYYYY TO obvious he was under the influence.

Either he was so plastered that it was not necessary, or they knew the guy and was trying to protect him. Sometimes they do this for other cops/firefighters, etc.

Even if he was under painkillers, he should still be ticketed with driving "under the influence", does not matter what you are "under the influence of".

In any event, glad to see you are ok.

In looking at the second set of pics...I see you have a baby/toddler seat in the back. Thank goodness no one was in the car. Material things can be replaced. Not family. Good luck with the insurance co.

Thanks to all for the info on what to do. Let me start by saying that the insurance totalled the car. I asked to buy it back and they told me it would be $4,800, so that's out of the question for me. I don't really have the tools or the time to keep the car and part it out. I'm going to try to take as much as I can from it and let them take it away. I can't find a Type-S 6 speed anywhere or an '06 6-speed w/ nav anywhere either. So as of now, I still don't know what I'm getting. And the rental that I got is the biggest piece of shit that I have ever driven. A damn Jeep compass. But anyway, thank you all and I will keep you informed on my next ride. Hopefully another Acura
