So you want your 04-06 Fogs to look like DRL's huh...
I will post a write up with parts needed to do this modification. Took me about 25 mins and it's the best setup since I am controling ground side not a hot side like some other members have done.
Lets start with simple pics and under the pics will be information on what to order and how to wire it up.
Results:
-----------------
Ok here is what you need to order
1. 30a Bosch relay with pigtail harness.
2. 20 or 30 amp In-Line fuse (Use a 20 fuse)
3. Regular 2 pin toggle switch (ON/OFF)
4. 1 long ass wire to run inside to car for the switch.
------------------
Where to buy:
1. Relay = http://www.repairconnector.com/index...id/0/id/257128
2. In-line fuse =
http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=family
3. 20-30amp Toggle switch with only 2 leads =
http://www.itcelectronics.com/produc...oducts_id=3530
4. Just go to a autozone for a long wire..
5. total cost : $25 or less
-----------------
Wiring:
Your Relay will have these numbers on it
Step 1.
You will take your relay and connect it to the pigtail harness that has the colors (Green, yellow, peach, red and blue) You line up the wire red to the #30 spot on the bottem of the relay. Easy enough lol
Step 2.
You connect wires blue and red together (Wires from the relay harness) then connect them to the in-line fuse. The In-line fuse will be connected to the battery positive ternimal.
Example: (Blue and red wire connect to in-line which connects to battery positive)
Step 3. There is a yellow wire, That yellow wire goes to the HOT side of the drivers foglight.
Step 4. There is a green wire. That wire is going to run through the firewall to the toggle switch.
Step 5. Look at your toggle switch there are 2 leads on the back. One lead for (OFF) position the other for (On) position.
The green wire goes to the OFF side.
For the ON side of the lead you need to ground it, therefore you find a ground under the dash and run the wire back to the ON side of the switch.
Your done, 25-35 mins nothing more. Safest way! Now When you have the lights off your combination switch which controls your headlights and fogs will work just fine as in the modification never happend..
---------------
Red + Blue to In-line fuse to battery positive
Green to toggle OFF Side of switch
Yellow to Hot side of fog
Peach wire leave ALONE!
Run ground wire to ON side of switch...
Thank you for looking!

Its controlled by the toggle switch, car can be off or on it will be on as long as you have the switch on. Its basically a light switch at this point. Just don't forget that you left it on while the car isn't running because you might end up killing your battery

If you read in that thread there are members who are having problems with that setup. I only tapped into 1 wire from the cars harness and thats the hot side of the fogs.

Ok, good stuff, but one minor fail.
If I leave them on, my battery dies? that's not good.
The relay should of worked off an auxiliary source, so when the car is off, the power is cut.
Nevertheless, enjoy your setup

wonder what aux wire we can use that works with the ignition on..if you did this then this would be the ultimate mod. thanks for the write up

Yes thats the only real drawback but I don't see it happening. I would have to say to make that work it would have to function with the drivers door. For example you leave your lights on car is off, if you shut your door they turn, if you open your door they go back on. Just have to wire it into the door and let the door act like the switch to close to circuit. But yet again why not just take a second to check if they are on

good write up. i have to agree with acuraTLboi though, why? i remember when DRL's first made their debut, to help avoid daytime accidents. not sure of it's effectiveness, but it looks like the driver has their lights on by mistake. one thing that bothers me is when drivers with HID's have them on during the day...FAIL.

I appreciate what you're trying to do here... but it's very bad. The relay is ALWAYS closed by your directions here (wiring blue and red together). This means the relay won't last long, and the extra current draw to keep the relay closed will kill your battery over time, as it's always closed, even when the car is off.
A much simpler solution to make your fogs come on at will...
A simple 4 pin $7 relay:
- Wire that comes off pin 87 of the relay, run that directly to the (+) wire of the fogs (you'll need a circuit tester for that). I believe you only have to run it to (one) fog, as the teo fogs are wired together.
- pin 86 to any body ground
- Pin 30 to the battery with a fuse
- Pin 85 from a "selected source" with a fuse to switch... this is what is used to "toggle" when the switch will work. If you run that to a "switched source", the lights will can come on when the car is switch on. The cars OEM config, this wire is wired to the headlights... thus fogs can ONLY come on when the headlights are on. (it's actually more complicated than that, as they go off with high beams)...
See this simple diagram... (ignore the illuminated switch part)
I suggest pin 85 as a switched power source, that way you can turn the fogs on any time the car is on, but the fogs will go off when you switch off pull the key.
Sorry for the fail...
You want to win here, someone show me how to do this using the OE stalk. Runner up , show me how to atleast bypass the high beam - fog turnoff so my fogs stay on while highbeaming through the country.

I didn't want to keep the relay energized at all times. When the car is off I want my relay to be grounded off when I don't have them on. I have gone through this with 30+ year ASE master electronic diagnosticians I did provide the orignal Specs from the other thread and simply put umm all of the guys in the room said you don't want the relay to be energized at all times.
I don't want to make this a pissing contest, If my relay fails anytime Soon I will let everyone know and trust me I will..
I also appreciate what your doing, but This is the way I wired it, its very simple, It works day 4 so far no problems. I will let you know If I do.
I wired up my accord fogs different from everyone its been almost a year & a half I have no issuse with the way I wired it up.

Yo man I really appreciate this thread. I get this question all the time from forum members and then I have to go through a lot of explanation. Finally there is a thread here to refer people to. I am using the DRL module myself but I see a lot of people would prefer a switch and this mod is the answer. This thread finally gives the DIY.
When you buy an HID kit or fog light set they usually come with 2 relays. I know the 30A relays should be sufficient but are you sure we only need 1 relay?
Just a question but what could happen if I wire up a set of lights directly to the battery and a switch with a fuse but without a relay? What's the problem with that?

Ok you want a relay because the relay takes the eletrical load. Wiring it without a relay to a switch will end up melting something over time. Doing it kennedy way of keep the relay constant hot will result in a small battery drain because theres always an eletrical load on the relay. Relays are designed to switch on and off it's their duty so having it wired they way I have it Is very safe and the best method.

If you want to tout your electrical know how or who you work for, you'd understand that from the simple diagram I posted.
Look, I'm trying to help people too. After getting pissed off at reading this, i did a little research on the color codes of the wire harness you posted... since you didn't post the pole pinouts, I figured it out:
- Wire that comes off pin 87 of the relay, run that directly to the (+) wire of the fogs (you'll need a circuit tester for that). I believe you only have to run it to (one) fog, as the teo fogs are wired together.
- pin 86 through the firewall and to toggle. Toggle interupts the relay switches ground.
- Pin 30 battery
- Pin 85 battery
That said, that's fine. You're correct, the relay isn't energized in your design. The toggle breaks the ground of the relay, thus breaking the connection. It's very safe in that no hot wire is passed through the firewall.
2 reasons I don't wire fogs that way...
- as noted, fogs don't go off with car. Using switched power as the toggle does that.
- All my fogs switches were illuminated. No way to do that using your scheme without running extra wiring.
You don't have to be an electrical engineer or an automotive technician to work this stuff... Rocky, if you need help, hit me up.
