Shortened my shifting on the (fairly) cheap

I bought some PIAA bulbs off an eBay seller, perused the rest of their store and made an impulse buy on a Razo RA121 "Super LO" shift knob. The stock knob isn't tall, but just wanted something shorter without the work to install a true short shifter and new knob. Installed it this weekend and I like it a lot. It feels good in the hand and the weight lends to positive shifting.

So this thread isn't useless, here's the pics:

The cap says "Razo" and has no gear selection diagram, so it ships with the sticker you can see between the seat warmer switches. They weren't necessary for me, but in researching the knob I ran across a comment in the G35 forum that it's good to have it there for valets and anyone else unfamiliar with the car. I just did a quick and dirty Di-Noc job on the cap, but the smoked, clear cap it came with wasn't too obnoxious with branding and could've been well left alone.

The knob is more "black chrome" than "gunmetal" IMO, so I was a little disappointed it wasn't a lighter shade, but it's nothing I'd return it over. The design of it is such that the knob drops down over the shifter and holds it 2mm (the thickness of the finishing cap) from the top, so I figure it's close to 2" lower than the stock knob. It came with a tapered collar that's removable, so I took that piece off and as you can see the boot collar matches up nicely to it. It's not fastened, the leather just pushes up the collar against the bottom of the knob. One day I'll figure out how to fasten it, but I'm not that anal about it sliding around a bit. One more look and a link to the item (no personal/business interest):

Cheers!

I really like the stock shift knob because it has a quiet elegance about it. But I will admit that your new shift knob does like very nice. Good job.

Chessie, it's nice-I like the carbon fiber look on it. With it being chrome on the outside ring, you'll want to keep it clean!

Yeah, cheesy but it's free insurance. Would you rather turn your keys over to a buddy or valet or any other unknown person, have them think they put it in reverse when it might really be 2nd and then gun it, possibly in close quarters?

According to the all the specs I've seen, 300g. It's a pretty hefty little hunk of metal. BTW, mine was true JDM, even the with a name like Razo it could've been euro. All the packaging and instructions were in Japanese. TG for diagrams.

Roger that. I'll add that to the growing duty list for the microfiber cloth that should always be around. There's polishing-my-knob joke in there that I'll stay away from.
