RULE #1... you NEVER steer away from incoming animal.. that's what causes the accident :-(
RULE #2... Cars can always be fixed or replaced.. people can't. So it's always better to take on a deer head on and just fix up the car.

has anyone hit a deer head on b4? i've dodged one before ..i was cursed that day..
same road.. dodged a deer and a cat/raccoon (couldn't make what it was cuz it was pretty dark) after like 5 mins from dodging the deer lol.
but ya, dodge or hit on? interesting. but i believe most ppl will dodge by insticts without thinking.

As to the hitting the deer head on instead of steering away from it, I am reminded of a thread where a station wagon or SUV hit one dead on and the entire interior was covered in gore, not to mention the driver. Not something I would want to look at/be covered in.

Glad you're ok. you shoulda tried braking (to at least slow down the car abit) and use the handbrake to swing the car sideways, hitting the deer with your tail or the passenger side rear, rather than driving yourself into a ditch.
Cuz that's what I did when I was in Texas last year to visit my relatives. I was driving my cousin's Accord on the highway. I saw a deer and I braked and pulled the e-brake swinging the car sideways and swiping the deer with the rear passenger side. I was really really scared atm, lol. Considering we rarely rarely ever see deers running on the highway in Canada.

WOW.......Very sorry for the loss of a beautiful car, and like everyone, I am very glad you were able to walk away from a horrible accident.
I also agree with BLACKURA, hitting a dear at 65mph would of been much worst. And probably more traumatizing. Just like the pics he posted.

This so isnt cool. Sorry to see your car in this situation. The important thing is that you walked away unhurt.
If you still have stock suspension, i would at least see if your insurance dealer will let you swap them out. Others on AZine have posted about being able to do this in the past.

Actually, on the contrary. I was reading this post last night, but then had an emergency call from first aid squad, didn't shut off my laptop, and ran out the door. Woke up this morning, finished reading what I started, clicked respond and submitted my reply. Realized that 10 other posted since last night and read the posts.
Then, i read your post, and decided to edit my post. It wasn't a stab at you man. I was just stating how you try to act black/thug/street and what not, but it shows in your choice of words that you're not.
And clearly, you were bothered by what i thought if you couldn't brush it off your shoulder. But instead, you chose to respond by questioning my sexual orientation.
