how much of a drop did it do to the car? Also, did you use a camber kit?

I read that if you are going to replace springs, might as well replace current shocks if they are old.

But then if i'm replacing springs and shocks... i start approaching the cost of coilovers ... tein basics.... decisions...

its been said that lowering springs reduces the life of your OEM Shocks overtime, but he stated that he installed the Teins H-Tech and not the S-Stechs. With that said, on their website tein explains that the H-Tech's give your car a very slight drop without sacrificing ride quality plus they are to work just fine with oem shocks. The S-Techs will lower your car more than the H-Techs and reduce the life of your shocks faster. So H-Techs with Oem Shocks = Good Convo and S-Techs with Tokico Blues or Koni Yellow's = Good Setup. lol...hope that help!

Statracing.com has the Tein HTech going for $247.00 shipped! I've got the same color as the OP and like his setup... After finding this price, my switchblade key is going to have to wait a bit longer ;-)

This setup looks great. Sorry if this is readily apparent somewhere, but could you tell me what the width/offset is on your wheels and what size tire you are running? I have been seriously considering these springs on my OEM shocks myself. I have an 06 auto with Aspec kit and 18X8 +45 with 245/40, and am worried my wheels will look small after this install as well. I agree with the others that have posted that your wheels, however, don't look small at all. Beautiful car.

OP--its been almost a year. Can we get some long term impressions of the H-Techs, please? Are you still running stock shocks? How many miles have you driven? How many on the car total?
I am almost ready to pull the trigger on these, mostly based upon the pics in this thread---the drop is perfect and your car is beautiful. My gf has an 06 Accord in the same color and it is very pretty. Your Type-S tails really set it off---consider the sidemarkers to finish it off.
Thanks in advance.

Color is amazing! It is so cool on how springs or coilovers make a big difference in looks and in handling.

I would think he would, since overall wheel/tire diameter should be the same no matter what size wheel you're running.
I wish OP would chime in here.

Sorry guys, I've been negligent and the forum doesn't inform me when I receive a reply!

Thanks again for all those that provided comments!

To answer some questions:

The drop is around 1 inch all the way around, alittle more in front (say 1.25"). I don't like the looks with the Eibachs (rear looks droopy). The actual H-Tech drop is a little more advertised. It is PERFECT for me.

I'm running 245/40-18 Bridgestones. I'm not sure of the wheel offset. The wheels are the standard A-Spec.

I have just under $50K on the car and have had the springs on for one year, or about $14K mostly highway miles. The ride is exactly the same as when I put the springs on. Stock struts. I did replace the tires, which was a BIG upgrade in ride quality (ride and sound). I had on Khumos before. I drove the car from SE VA to NJ and back last fall and couldn't have asked for a better balance of ride and handling.

Yes, I did have a fairly good sized gap prior to the drop. There are some posts from me in the photo section (and the RRP thread) of the car before it was lowered.

Again, sorry for taking so long to respond.

Thank you, vatltltl. I appreciate your comments. Personal experiences are much better gauges of quality than any marketing or 3rd party reviews. Thanks for sharing your impressions.

The S-techs will drop you significantly more, perhaps .75" to 1.00" all the way around, which will definitely require new struts IMO. That is too low and would be too harsh for me.

Thanks dwb993!

If there is one thing I would change, it would be the addition of 19" wheels. There would be a ride penalty of course, but it would look NICE! Unfortunately, 19's aren't in my budget for a while! There are more important things, like my kids' college education!

I think the drop is a perfect and exactly how i want my car to sit! I've got some 19" RDX Accessory wheels on the way and im not really not into the whole slammed look but i do want to reduce that wheel gap a little. I'm really leaning towards the H-Techs after seeing this thread.

IMO, the car looks very classy and very tastefully done! That grown folk look! ;-) If you dont mind me asking, where did you get the h-techs from?

LOL, thanks! You're really testing my "grown folk" memory, but they were given to me as a gift and I believe they were purchased off of ebay.

Buy from a trusted vendor!
There are many fake Tein springs on the market:

im thinking about just going with springs too on stock shocks - car just hit 30k miles... do you think lowering it 1.25" would affect the alignment? would i need a camber kit? also did you happen to install these yourselves or get them installed by someone? thanks!!

Yes, it will affect the alignment. I do have a camber kit on the rear and I had the shop do the install and the alignment. Actually, three alignments.. one after the initial install, one after the camber kit, and one to finally get it right.

those springs look like the exact drop or alittle more than my H&R sports, why is that? i thought the h&R sports were lower than Htechs and Stechs?

did you get a moleskin kit added to prevent scratching on the window tint? do you see a obvious difference in tint from the front windows to the rear or is it a subtle transition?

regarding the tein h-tech springs. im leaning towards purchasing these. did you install them yourself - if not, how much did you get charged? did you get a camber kit or just 4 wheel alignment after they were installed? im able to get these springs for 180shipped.

There is a slight/subtle difference front to back, but not much. I don't know what a moleskin kit is, so no, I don't have one. I've never had problems with scratching.

I replied to your PM about the install. I would buy the camber kit and use it if you need it.
