No way around it for me, I have to put windows down to be sure where I'm going, BUT, I live in South Florida so no biggy. With the cheap leds I had, even looking back physically, in a dark area I couldn't see what was behind the car. With these CREE, I definitely can.

i know that the vleds look more spread on the navi, but i also wanted to know which one was brighter by the output of the rear while outside or whatever.. if you get what im sayin... basically which are brighter overall.. without the navi in play..
for me with navi not being a factor, i personally think the Cree are brighter. they have more a straight beam like the thread stated where as the v-led are a little more spread out, but they arent as bright.

must be nice, not cool having to pull a window all the way down in 15degree weather lol

Thanks for the review.
I got the CREE's when it was all the rage, but I can definitely tell you people with back up camera's. IT IS NO GOOD! The light doesn't spread evenly.

I'll grab the V-LEDS.

By the way, anyone have discount codes?

Just ordered a pair of the 5k V-LEDS reverse lights.

Just an FYI, use the promo-code ICECUBE to get 15% off your order. It expires today 1/20/12 at 5PM PST so hurry!

Also, now that I got these, whoever is interested in my CREE back-up lights let me know!
Like stated above, it might be a better solution for the non-navi TL's.

it DEFINITELY is the solution for us...
believe it or not, I had reverse HID's and even with that I didn't feel like I could see much better than I can see with the cree...and you're putting a strange and heavy load on those rear wires.

CREE for non navi all day...
OH, and thanks for sharing with everyone, very kind of you.

I got the Cree ones a while back, but the bulb was too narrow focused. So I bought the new ones from Diodedynamics

Compared to the CREE on the right side, you can see the spot light effect in the right picture compared to the flood effect in the left side of car in right picutre.

Cree

the difference is light and day.

looks like diodedynamics website is down at the moment.

You can see more of the pics Here

also bought some fogs

bringing this thread back to life. still seems like there's still no general consensus. I'm non-navi and from what I can tell, CREE is the way to go.

Thread update with 3 new pictures. These are 19-LED 5K V-LEDs 8W bulbs. Bulb size is 921

I wish I had the same 3 pictures but with halogen style bulbs instead, but I don't...

The ones you bought from amazon aren't really that great for the back-up light. It's better suited for using it as interior lighting, trunk lighting, or even your front doors. The VLEDs one I linked earlier is suited for reverse light use because its a high-powered LED that uses 8WATTS. It will light up super bright so you can see when reversing at night.

The amazon ones you bought probably get out-shined by your brake lights as you are reversing lol. If you have a back-up camera, ditch your amazon LEDs and purchase the VLEDs. You'll come back and thank me later.

Do you know if these come in 7440 bulb type? I looked around and they only have the 12 LED rather than the 19 LED.

I currently have the CREE as well and looking to change them out.

Thanks for the info!

They were running a 20% discount over $50 so I bought the bulbs and $10 in gift cards and got the 20% off so I got $10 in gift cards for free...

Reverse lights are 921 not 7440. What are you trying to replace the 7440 for? Front turn signals or rear turn signals?

First off, pardon the bump.

Secondly, pardon the really n00b question. I noticed that there has been no mention of resistors for the reverse lights. Do they not require resistors at all? Same for the license plate lights? (I guess I've been spending so much time reading up in the DRL threads that I keep thinking resistor this, resistor that.)

Anyone have an updated link to the reverse bulbs from V-LEDs? All I could find in size 921 was this: http://www.vleds.com/bulb-type/rever...79-1-pair.html
