i just got my car tinted today. got home and was just checking out the rear windshield. i noticed the third brake light cover looks smaller. in fact, even with it on there is clearance for the tint to reach around it. i remember people giving instructions on how to remove it to get clearance around that area. looks like my tint guy may have made a minor modification. does anyone know off the top of their head if they have a black rubber piece that secures around the cover? mine has one. it actually looks nice whatever he did. i will take pics tomorrow during the day and post them. in the meantime if someone already has a pic of theirs please post so i can make a comparison.

btw, i have NBP w/ black interior. i originally planned to go with 20% all around but at the last minute with some friendly advice from the guy i changed my mind. i went with 35% all 4 side windows and 20% in the rear windshield. i must say he did a great job. with the factory chemical tint combined with the 35% tint, it looks very nice. i would say it looks somewhere between 20% - 35% (25% ) i've already sent a couple of my friends to him. if anyone is in the nyc/nj area they're located in lodi, nj. if anyone is interested let me know and i'll give you the number. they use 3m scotchtint w/ lifetime guarantee.

took some pics of my brake light cover and exterior shots. someone please let me know if the cover comes assembled like that from the factory. i didn't really see how it looked before i took the car to tint. thanks!

Your third brake light cover looks just like mine (stock). Its held up by two white plastic clips which is easy to take off. My tint installer cut around the light cover which looks good. The only difference is that your tint installer cut around the cover way to short. There is a gap that can be covered up w/ black tape. Try going back to your installer to fix it. That's why your third brake light cover looks smaller. Let me know if you want me 2 take pixs.

BTW, looks real good w/ 35%, just like mine.

i know what you mean. the gap actually isn't visible from the outside. i wouldn't have taken my car back like that. that area with the dots somehow is pitch black if you look from the outside.

so is this the main reason why ppl are taking their 3rd brake light covers off before tinting? if so then there's no need. my car is proof. i can take a pic from the outside to show that it's perfectly matched and no visible gaps.
