Pic Request!!! Quad TL Projectors

Quad TL's or pics of a TL head with quad projectors?
That would be some insane output with 4 TL projectors! How did your custom shields turnout?
I have this pic but not sure what the inner projector is.
I also know that JnC did a quad retro for a guy that used Mini H1 projectors. I'm waiting for the new S2K-r if it ever comes out to do the quad retro, but if four TL's is possible I'd go that route.

Someone here had a set of quad projectors. I'll try to find it but it's an older thread.

Ah shit, I can't find it. Plus the thread I'm thinking about didn't have Type-S headlights, just blacked out 04-06 headlights.

Damn those are good looking. I've never seen them before though.
It was a thread posted here easily over a year ago. I think he put RSX projectors where the fogs were.

Mini H1s . The one posted above was with E46 singles.
TL projectors might fit but you'll need to either loose bi-xenon function or cut the bottom side of the headlight to make them fit.

Would the horizontal alignment be able to be adjusted as well with the projectors in the DRL location? I'm assuming when you mount the projectors to match the horizontal alignment of the OEM projector, then when you go to adjust the projectors both would move in sync, right? So when doing the retrofit, you just have to make sure the cutoff shields match up?
#11
Ya they would both adjust together and I would probably convert them to a straight cutoff. I was thinking about fitting a yellow glass capsules inside mainly for use during bad weather. I like the idea but it might not be worth it to essentially ruin my extra set of headlights

I was thinking the same thing. I could do the quad but keep the inner with use the DRL so I'd have projector DRL lights with yellow D2S bulbs in conjunction with my yellow foglights for bad weather. So when its foggy or rainy I could turn my lights to the parking light on my stalk, that way my yellow DRL projectors stay on and I'll do the independent foglight switch so I could use my fogs as well, and when it's nice out I could just turn my headlights all the way on I'd have my OEM projectors on only. Sorry hard to explain if you got confuses.

Seems like you and I have a fetish for lighting :P
I plan on driving up to MA to have JnC do my quad projectors since I drive my car frequently and daily and can't afford downtime. Once the weather warms up I will be giving him a visit.
Morimoto H1s are bi-xenon (win!) so technically, you will have dual projectors, with quad xenons in a single headlight. The projection is just as clear as the normal HID projector, as stated by JnC. I intend to set them up with my 05 fog light switch but am thinking of having that fog light switch independent since it'd be cool to have the inner projectors on only.

Most of us are freaks for lights in this thread it seems =p
Nate, Roger, JNC, you (Brian) and myself. Perhaps others.
I'm with Nate, I'm waiting for the S2K-Rs for a re-quad-retro.
An independent switch for the inner projectors is a must, in my opinion.
I have one for my inner-fog-projector.
From what I remember, there was another member on the forum who also had TSX projectors retro'd. I believe he also had sequential LED turn signals.
I'm personally not a fan of those diffusers from HID Illusionz, as posted above. It looks like the frosted plastic lens used for shower doors.
Also, Brian, do you still have that "pseudo"-projector thing going with your headlight? (The TL Fresnel lens in the DRL shroud)
Roger, can't wait to see the shields.

I'm very excited for when the entire front end of my car becomes complete.. that includes: Quad xenons (D2S with genuine ZKW & H1 mini with clear lenses with 4300K phillips 85122+ in both), 5000K white parking lights, and my lower grill E-class sedan/coupe LED DRLs. It should look VERY aggressive. Still debating whether to go type-s front aspec (with the gray plastic in the lower grill area cut out) or base front aspec (modded like jptl04).
Roger, How are you getting around getting the projector mounted and sealing the back housing?

Naw, I removed them for when I was refinishing a set of my headlights for another member who has now bought them.

As for fitting the TL projectors I haven't tried yet, I just have my lights apart right now and started kicking the idea around. I will have a chance next week to to look into it but to be honest I am really itching to get my car back on the road! I haven't driven the TL in over 2 months, been in the garage for winter and the last month I have been working on a few projects that I haven't had much time to finish up.

I really like jaime's a-spec but feel it isn't as aggressive as it appears smaller. I think the tl-s a-spec would lool pretty good it it didn't surround the entire lower grill.
Have you heard about the new OSRAM 5000K 3400lm bulbs? They arnt cheap but they are brighter then the once dominant 85122+ bulbs without the yellow. I know both Nate and I picked up at set from Germany but they are 175/pair if you can get in on a GB. Probably better off with the philips if you want quads but you if insist on having them match your corners they are a must!

I read the CBIs appeared to have less brightens depth wise compared to the 85212+s. Otherwise dang they are bright! I might switch over once i get my new quad setup going on.
I agrew with roger. You'd wantCBIs Brian!
I plan to have so much light i can see PAST some cornfields... In my peripheral. =p its bambi season soon and i'll be sure to see 5x more than i already do.

yikes! 2 months is long but serves plenty of time for a few mods.

Ya theres are different opinions on the thread but I have really only seen one person switch back to the 85212's I think a lot of it depends on individual preference or the individuals eye's preference for that matter. I personally don't like the yellow hue from the 85212+'s so a 5000K bulb that performs around the same level/better/ or even slightly worse is still the winner for me.
The more time consuming project has been a custom modification to my Audi DRL strip. I ran into a few snags with my design but should get it everything done in the next 2 weeks.
Heres a little peek at what i'm working on.

Thanks for that heads up, I will definitely look into the osram CBI 5000K. If you think about it, quad projectors is approximately twice the light output, I think we'll be okay if both our projectors have 5000K as opposed to 4300K. We could even get away with (2) 6000K and still have brighter light output than one 4300K. But 6000K is way too blue; I just need a neutral white with no yellow, I think the CBI osrams will deliver that.
The only problem I see is modifying the type-s bumper lower grills, since theres that vertical bar in the lower grill separating the area that shrouds the fog light and the rest of the mesh. That'll have to be removed.
Roger, just my , if I were you I would move the S6 leds to the most bottom portion of the grill; I was always impressed with the low placement of the leds.

Pretty sure you have to use H1 bulbs. Otherwise you could modify them by cutting off a D2S bulb holder from another projector and mold them to the mini H1's but that may affect the light output cause I'm not sure if the two bulbs are different lengths or not. Over on HIDplanet I believe a guy did this to his blazer foglights and looked pretty good.
EDIT:
Here's the thread I was talking about, it was for the Fusion fogs not the Blazers, but you get the idea.

Here's a video of my quad setup I did last week on my 04. I used morimoto matchbox projectors. I'm going to redo these eventually with a custom vacuum formed shroud. This is my 1st attempt at retrofitting.

Pardon my ignorance, but even when this mod looks absolutely terrific, what's the purpose of having a secong projector in the headlight? to see better at night i think, right? but wont other drivers get sort of bothered by the output of the lights? Just trying to understand

I tried to post some pics up but it says they are too big and I don't know how to resize them. I have some in my gallery in my garage section of my profile if interested. I have both the old setup posted in the HIDILLUSIONZ link above as well as the current and upgraded setup now on his web site.
EDIT: My setup isn't utilizing type-s headlights but still a quad setup.
