Hey guys,
I don't mean to thread-jack but I'm in need of some serious help. I need to find a reputable shop that won't charge me an arm and leg to change out my drive pulley. I tried like hell today but had to concede defeat - I just can't get that damn bolt off; even bent a 36in breaker bar in the process. I live in the Killeen/Belton/Temple area and figured that I'd end up trying to find some where in Austin to get this done. I'm willing to go anywhere from Dallas to Houston; so if anyone has a shop they'd like to suggest I'm all ears.

Jonathan, there is really only one way to get that bolt off easily. And I know many who have done this safely. Is get a breaker bar and have it on the bolt and on the ground against it. Depends which way the pulley turns, it needs to turn towards the break bar where its on the ground and won't go anywhere. I think you know what I am implying. Unplug the coil packs on the engine so it won't start. Next only .5 of a sec flick the starter with the ignition. It will force that pulley to turn and will cause the bolt to come loose. You don't want to turn it much because it will fly off. Just a quick flick of it.
I really am not real familar with shops in Austin to recommend one at all. But I know one here in San Antonio that would do it pretty reasonable for you. He is a buddy of mine from the he Nissan Z club. His name is Rob at 495-5959 R&N Garage.

Yea since they are local and people seem to work during the day on Saturday too, we made it later in the evening where it works for everyone. I am always up for changing the time or day if anyone ever wants to give suggestions of course.
I have impact tools and a large compressor. Not sure if its powerful enough though to remove that pulley or not.

Just providing me with a name for someone who might be able to get it off was all I was hoping for - but if you'd be willing to help me out with what has become the great pulley endeavor I'd be thrilled. I can't tell you how much the offer alone means...

We can sure try. I think you can access it through the passenger side wheel well with the tire off. I would have to check my schedule to see what Saturday we could try to do that then. If not the place i recommended is like 2 min from my house and he definitely can get it off for you.
