New 2007 TL-S build thread-Lots of photos
Hey guys! so i recently picked up an 07 WDP TL Type-s. Coming from the static stance world, and moving to the more lux category i figured id go to air suspension rather than these 15k+ spring rates everybody is running. I got my air setup fo
So to start, i purchased the TL with 73,000 miles. Had 2 previous owners, but a completely clean carfax and many many maintenance records from the local Acura Dealership. So that's great news.
About 24 hours later i got it tinted. In the dead heat of Sacramento it is a must. Not a huge fan of dark tint, but after feeling the temperature difference i'm becoming a fan.
Anywho, First step was bags. About 3 weeks into owning the car i bit the bullet and contacted a local fabrication shop. I'm in Sacramento, CA and the shop is nearby. Bc Fabrication is their name or @bcfab on instagramn. I've always been one to support the little guy Nothing against bagriders or anyone of that nature, great customer service and support is all ive seen from them. Just a preference.
Lucky for me he had everything in stock besides the struts themselves. This gave me the ability to get all the power, lines, relays, flux capacitors, etc. ran. I had never installed, owned, or even tinkered with air suspension but accuair made it so god damn simple i couldn't believe it. He gave me the greenlight to pass along the deal he gave me to people i know. But a forum seems like a nice place to pass along a hookup on bags. So let me know if youre in the market ever.
The kit include more than whats pictured, but i just simplified it for a cool ig post.
After staring at my trunk wondering what the hell i was gonna do for a setup, i got creative. Cardboard was used as the floor, which is a perfect rectangle towards the back.
I then lifted the top section 3 inches, giving me enough room to mount the ECU, Relays, Power distributors(not needed, just easier), and then made a top sheet, shaved to the curves of the trunk.
I then bought some stick on "hardwood" at lowes. I'm sorry but these dudes running true hardwood are just doing the most. I dont even have hardwood in my house.
After the 3 week wait for the struts, which had to be handmade since a bagged 3g is as common as a bagged ls400, i finally was ready to get this thing on the ground.
These are the TWR struts. TWR is the factory that makes D2, Ksport, and Airforce. They have adjustable dampening, height adjustment, they're blue, they smell nice, etc. The install wasn't hard. I had a slammed accord a few years back and the coilover install was very similar to the bag install. Of course because the chassis are the same. I also included Skunk2 Front upper control arms, that i had cut by bcfab to max out the camber(bring the hate) and then some jPower upper arms for the rear, and ingalls for the lower rear. The install took 5 hours, as we took some breaks, ran to walmart, etc. Now the car sat low, but needed wheels!!
So about 3 days later, i picked up wheels from my buddies part out. Not an impulse buy, i had this lined up for weeks but didn't wanna bite the bullet before the car was on air. Found my dream wheels in good specs. 19x10.5 +15 up front and 19x11.5 +15. They are low disc so i had to run a 20mm spacer up front. Since i had 4 spacers i figured fuuuuhgit and went for the spacer on all fours. Putting the wheels at a -5 offset. This took a lot of pull, but that's fine. Have the fitment i had hoped to have had.
So now that the car is on the wheels i've been wanting for YEARS and bags in a short matter of time, i plan to take a break for a month or two. Just to keep myself from finishing the visual of the car and leading to boredom with the car itself. Overall i LOVE the Type s and everything it has to offer. I've had it on wheels for about a week now so i only have a couple of photos, but here they are. Follow me on instagram @blackjackmon and leave some criticism below. Even if you wanna be the guy that says "youre an idiot and ruined that car, blah blah blah." go for it!
I also plan to continue adding to the trunk, hopefully doing a wall with a plexi glass window in it soon. In the meantime i paint matched the tank and went along with my build

That's hard to answer. Air depends on ride height since the bags acts as a spring. If im just tucking tire, rides JUST like stock. If im riding super low its a bit softer, and if im monster trucking its pretty rigid. i love it though, i'm really enjoying the setup and everythings gone well with it

Eeek, in my eyes the car looks terrible, but I'm not into the tire stretching slamming kinda thing. I'm sure others like that stuff though. It's just one of those mode I will never understand. Congrats on the Type S though.

Although I wouldn't really turn a type-s into a VIP car, I'd say yours looks like it would make the streets flood with my drool if you were rolling around my area... BEAUTIFUL car man!

Thanks brothaa!!
Well i couldn't be on bags with stock wheels, or stock height with wide wheels. haha.
Yeah the offset caught me off guard too. but seems like the wide stance thing, or low offsets/wide wheels in general aren't too popular on here
Appreciate it!!!
Exactly. You'd turn a Lexus, or Infiniti into one. Which is a common VIP platform. BUT, why be one of the 839414574903875 vip ls430's
Yeah! with proper alignment it drives great. Haven't had a car with less than -6 degrees in the rear in like three years.

As I said above props to OP, but not for me. No disrespect, just nothing I would ever do to my car and still have a difficult time conceptually understanding why?

I am a fan of wide rims on cars but with proper fitment and necessary camber without excess.. I run 8" wide rims on my track car with +40 offsetwith -2 of camber.

Thanks man! Glad you like it!
Thanks! not seen toooo often, especially within the forums. have seen a few that look awesome though
*opens up scroll* haha no i have a lot of plans with this. A gloss black roof wrap is coming. Was gonna paint it, but don't know if i'll like it so i'll leave it wrapped for a year or so. I plan to do the A-spec kit (04-06 base front lip), side skirts, and I'm still contemplating rear. Definitie window visors, and rear window visor. Refinish the wheels. Full interior (trays front and rear, curtains, neck pads, etc. and i can go on and on. I'll keep this updated. But i'm gonna space the next step out a few more weeks since i got this far pretty fast. Don't wanna get bored!

^^^better get the Aspec kit ASAP, because i believe WDP is the ONLY color(maybe one other) left available... after that, you'll be trying to source out used.
That would be my next mod, if I were you!

Hahah, never know. Maybe i'll go a different route with it someday.
Not at the moment! it has a lack of hardwood and i plan to add a wall with a plexi glass window. I'll shoot one when i get a chance though

The Aspec Kits are hard to come by.

That's a major bummer. And i really don't have much time to browse the black market on here. Does anyone know of other front lips, and skirts that look good? Not very interested in the ebay one that seems to be available everywhere

^you may be lucky with WDP. I remember hearing there were more of WDP and NBP available, but I could be wrong.
Ron Jon is another option. But am not sure I've seen a type-s with it.
I would PM member Bruce (AckTL05) for OEM a spec.
