My new to me 3gen TL 6spd...

Hey 3rd gens... just wanted to welcome myself. I just sold my 01 BMW 330ci and picked up an 04 TL NBP 6spd with 34k miles. After 111k miles on the bimmer its time to move to something bigger and practical for me and my 2 kids... not the greatest pics, but will do for now...

and my E46... miss her already..

Just curious - why did you trade in your e46? I did the same about 18 months ago (traded in my 2004 330i ZHP or 2006 TL MT). Sometimes I still miss my 330i. I did have a ton of problems, mainly ZHP related (the car used to idle very rough, would die from time to time, there were no fixes at the time). But my impression was that the non-ZHP cars were pretty reliable towards the end of the production cycle?

thanks for the comment guys... and Andy74 the only reason why I gave up my 330ci cause i needed a 4dr for my 2 kids..and yes maybe i needed a new ride.. my e46 ran perfect..sold it for 15k with 111k miles..not to bad...other than the usual maintenance issues like the water pump, LCA and LCAB....Ive heard issues about the ZHP model like the rough idle you explained, did you also have that ticking sound from 2-3500 rpms? usually in those cases the VANOS had to be replaced hopefully under warranty, but then again sometimes that doesnt fix the problem. I still go on e46fanatics.com from time to time.. but i like my TL..actually ive always like the 3rd gens... my cousin who's on here as well "the bigwhite21" and my uncle both have 3rd gen TL's... and have actually driven Honda's pretty much my whole drivin experience except for the 3 yrs i was driving the BMW...

Haha, I think I was one of the first people with ZHP to omplain about 2000-3.5 ticking noise. Vanos replaced twice. Coils replaced 4 times. I aslo know a mechanic that works for BMW of Naperville, IL. He sat in the car once, started it up and I pointed out all the problems I had. He said "get rid of it". The next day, I traded it in for a TL.
