lol your first mod is the same as my first mod. Peripheral ipod kit. Make sure to update the firmare on your iSimple (Peripheral) unit. I bought mine like a month ago and have spent like 3 grand on other stuff since then lol hopefully you don't do the same!

CONGRATS!!!
Be VERY carefull. This Forum is addicting and before you know it your car will be modded to the hilt. I recently bought a WDP 06 TL nav manual with 28k miles and have already spent $1500 on mods. With about another $4k in the future. OH NO here I go again.

Time to bring this thread back to life:
I'm a wimp, so I'm starting off easy for my first "mods"...ie. I removed that damn license plate mount on the front of my car. I didn't realize that those little caps should have come with the car, so I have to order those. I think I'll order those at the same time I order my A-Spec front lip...
A few days later I came upon this:
(I know, it's blurry. I hate my shakey hands. Gotta stop smokin that crack.)
I got a slight discount because it was an open box, but none of the internal boxes were opened. Plus the guy from the car audio department assured me that it was returnable like a new one if it didn't work. I love my iPod, I love my TL...what could be better than the two of them together?
Install tomorrow (hopefully), pics will follow.
Next up: A-spec front lip and hopefully I won't bust a cap...

Sorry for the late response, I've been busy as hell lately. Like Anthracite already said, it's an entire ipod integration kit. It comes with all the harnesses and such that you need, no "buy this but you need this with it to make it work" crap. I need to update the firmware, it seems that my console controls only work half the time 
I'm hoping a firmware update will fix that. If not, looks like I'm getting a new one for open-box price!
Other than that, I highly highly recommend this kit. It's been said dozens of times, but I found the controls a bit counter-intuitive at first, but I'm used to it now. This kit is the "hold grail" of ipod kits for us TL owners since it shows both XM and iPod text, instead of one or the other.
Based on the old firmware, I give the kit a 7/10

Update the firmware. It will correct your problem. You should have done that right away. I updated mine. The site said the latest firmware was released 12-29-08. Also update the software in the i-pod.
