Morrissey25's upcoming Carbon fiber Mods

whats up fellow Aziners, a little while back a fellow member Morrissey25 (John) asked me to do some CF work for him. just wanted to share with you all what i did for him. and tease him a bit since the parts will be shipped back to him shortly.

I dont really know John, since he's in the east coast. probably freezing his nuts off and im out here in So Cal toasting mine John seems to be super cool dude with all the patients in the world.

he shipped me a gauge cluster and a gas latch trim. for me to wrap in CF. at first i thought it would be a snap. or a good challenge to test my skills. i will admit i did have my troubles with the gauge cluster. i tried wrapping it in 2X2 twill, but it proved nearly impossible. i gave it two tries failed both times. i convinced him to go the plain weave route its easier to work with. i did that and a spare set of steering wheel button trims in the plain weave. its pretty much what the fake stuff in our cars is trying to copy. the gas latch is done in 2x2 twill.

sorry John for teasing....i had to do it i'll let you update the thread with your install pics..enough talk on to some pics enjoy

Thanks for the tease Jamie and yes I am freezing my nuts off here in the Hudson Valley (the RealFeel out here is 4 degrees). As usual, everything looks amazing. Even though we couldn't get the 2x2 twill to sit, the plain weave looks great. My naked cluster will for sure like the new clothes... I love the center steering wheel trim piece and I can't wait to install.

Im telling you that over the summer I may have to take a trip out west and have you teach me how you do all this

I got the pieces in the mail yesterday... The Cluster trim and gas latch are installed and they look absolutely amazing I am going away for the weekend and if all things go right, I plan to install the steering wheel trim when I get back. I will take pictures when everything is done. I have a few pictures on my cell phone of the cluster but they do not do it justice. If I can I will post what I have but I rather wait until I get everything in.

And just incase you didn't get the idea... The cluster cover is A WORK OF ART!!!

Thanks again Jamie

Almost done with the installation... Just have to put the airbag back on. Here are a few progress shots...

IMHO the new trim really changes the look of the wheel. Jamie, I promise that I will take some proper shots that really show off your work.

I've been driving around like that for a few days now and it is a little bit scary... Then I think about how cars never had airbags and that helps me to relax a little bit

However, I will be putting the airbag back on tomorrow
