Unfortunately the shop that sold me the doesn't mount tires either... and I'm in super dire need of new tires.
I'm still deciding what color to have them coated though.
Thanks Steven! It was an impromptu shoot, and I haven't taken shots in a while... so I'm glad most of them came out good!
Thanks duders!
Thanks Meko! Too bad I'm changing up the lugs too =p
Sigh.. the details lol. Yeah, I gotta get on that
I should get started since school is around the corner!
Thanks bud!

Quebec, no front plates FTW!!
BUT, I do know someone who has an electric-hideaway plate... and it's freaking bad ass.
I never got hassled before... unless I'm caught for "being too low" then that's the only time I'll get hassled for living in Ontario with my car/insurance still registered in Quebec.

probably Tuesday... I have a 4hour break in between class. Should have them then! Probably wont have them mounted till the week after though, since its better to powdercoat with no tires.
as much as i like teal/candy real, or baby blue or tiffany gree/blue i don't think it will go well on my car.
im thinking gun metal, hyper silver or something similar to black chrome.
i did, however, consider hyper silver with a small hint of either blue or purple.
hahah maybe one day! I do have my own design i want to make..
or retrofit RE:A's FD (my dream car by the way) rear diffuser!!
its so beautiful!

I actually saw a LHD FD for sale, they were asking 14-16,000.
i was on the verge of selling the TL for it!
buuut... The insurance on it made me think twice. I'm currently paying 185/month and I sure as heck know I won't get anything close to that with the FD

Quick post before I leave school to go to work:
The silver is actually pretty nice... it's not flat and dull as some typical silver on other wheels. This particular silver has some metallic in it... I kind of like it. Now I'm questioning if I should powder coat them or not.
I'm leaning towards installing them as is... then a few months down the line get them coated a darker color. =]
And these are pretty light! I was able to effortlessly grab them by a spoke and carry them around in one hand.

yeah it is more subtle with just the middle portion. Maybe I'll come up with something similar to just the middle part but still incorporate my ideas.
thanks! Seems like everyone but my rx8 buddy thinks the same.
hahah great GIF meko, and thanks Steven and Meko!
I'm pretty backed up with school and work this week so I have no time to install them until next week...

Thanks dude!
Thanks! S'allright we're all pretty busy lately!

SSOOOO.... I just installed my new wheels/tires and all I can is... FUCK!
I went during my 2 hour break (10:30-12:30). Dropped off my car, wheels and tires. Forgot to buy hub rings... the place I went to doesn't have 64.1->72.6. Okay, no problem. Call my buddy to check out a few shops.
Finally get hub rings....
Come back, it's 12pm--running late. Give them the hub rings, it's now 12:15 and I see them struggling with one wheel. I wait a bit, it's now 12:40. Class started, so I go in to the garage bay and check out what's wrong... turns out one of the studs got stripped somehow and thus is loose... all it does it spin. So now I have a lugnut that's stuck on this stupid stud.
On the bright side: I ordered new ARP OE sized studs... bad news is... they won't come till next week.
So, okay... no problem, whatever. Install it and let that one stud just hang loose. That's cool... still relatively safe.
Afterwards, it's all installed. I asked them if they had any issues... if they cleared the brakes or not. They said everything was fine other than the one stud. It's 1pm now. Fuck. I pay, they charged me an extra $40 'due to complications' okay, cool whatever---I just wanted to get in my car and head to class and didn't care at that point.
Got in my car, backed out.. no problems. Get on the road, no problem. Start driving... all is good, hit 15km/h get this insane scraping/rubbing noise. Wtf? ignore it for a bit. Hit 40km/h, yellow light comes... I hit the brakes. INSANE VIBRATIONS AND RUBBING NOISE. Wtf? I figured, roads are bad... the wheels are poking, maybe I'm just rubbing like a mother effer. 2 blocks later, the noise goes away. I thought "Hmn.. maybe I was rubbing and the tire/fender lip finally found that "sweet spot". Hit the brakes again, insane vibrations. WTF?
Pull over the car and boooy, what do you know...?
The wheel DID NOT clear the brakes.
The aftermath?
It looks like... the scraping finally stopped. Well, that's one way to make brake clearance. Fuck.
My impatience today got the better of me [I'm usually pretty patient]. I should have double checked the clearances when I was about to leave.
ANYWAY, aside from that craziness... it looks pretty good.
Rides fine now that the scraping of the wheel/bbk stopped. Rear wheels rub going over bumps. Going to get a 3mm spacer once the studs come in... probably stop driving for a bit just to be safe.
here's some pics though.
They're 245/40/18 on 18x9.5 +27
needs a 5mm spacer to clear brembos.
I assume I'll be fine with 3mm now that the brakes are shaved off... along with behind the rim-spokes... :sigh:
Will post a few other pics later tonight. Off to work now.
Thanks! S'allright we're all pretty busy lately!

What happened with the IS300's lugs?
Thanks dude! I'm loving the contrast, much better than black!
It's called Excellent Tire, or something like that, right next to Green+Ross on McCowan+Eglinton.
In retrospect... I should've probably went elsewhere, as the two techs working on my car didn't know what hubcentric rings/spacers were. The guy at the desk did, however. But he said he wasn't a tech. Weird.
Thanks!
Yeah, I called and... Maybe I should bring the car in person to get better luck.
Thanks Robert!
Wish I could come out Sunday with the car but the rubbing in the rear is really annoying!
Thanks Steven!
No worries on the scraping, that's partially my fault as well.
On the bright side....... the wheels clear the OE Brembos?
I'll probably drop by when I'm free with the car so they can see in person rather than give me the run-around over the phone.
If they don't do anything... I'm not too mad at them.
It was partially my fault for not going over their work.
And I did drive the car in and out [they asked me to]. Everything seemed fine till I hit a moderate speed ... and things got worse when I hit the brakes.
I should've pulled over and checked right away rather than driving another block [which the scraping stopped].
I should have turned around and went back to them. But, I didn't.
And thanks! I'm digging them too! I feel I should've went with a 35 series instead of a 40... the tires look a little chunky to me for some reason.
Probably cause I previously ran stretched+bald tires on the black wheels. It seemed ... smaller, somehow.
---
Other pics:
SOOOO, I don't know what it is with spiders and my damn TL but they sure freaking love me...
This was behind my old black wheels, inbetween the rear mounting surfaces (unlike typical wheels, the crevice was small).
They were also on my rear rotors and inside my old gold-extended-open-lugs.
Neat...
#killitwithfire?
Prior all of this, I had been travelling a lot... and didn't check my balding tires.
Just 3 days ago, a block and a half away from home I heard a POP and knew exactly what it was...
I pulled over immediately and thought of my options...
call a tow?
put on the spare?
drive home?
There was no where particularly safe to stay and put on the spare on the road I was on as traffic is relatively constant. Not to mention the bus... and relatively sketchy neighbourhood.
So, I drove home at a rate of 30km/h when the road was clear. The tires were Bridgestone... RE30 or something, I THINK they were runflats.. never ran a runflat when it was actually flat before.
Had work and class... so threw on the spare when I got home.
And here's a few of the other pictures I snapped of yesterday and this morning:

Danny, ONLY for the time being, I would suggest put some washers in as spacers....1 washer is around 1mm....
but order spacers right away....5mm should work the trick....
and yeah the tires look chunky...me likey....but if you are not digging the look, get skinnier tires next go around (225/40/18 or 235/40/18)....
225 is 9" will look awesome....235 will be not a stretch, and not a bulge....245/40 is 9.66mm on a 9" rim will be a bulge

As you have noticed, had to work... It's hard to "call in sick" when you're the only manager available to work :s
I wasn't in Windsor recently actually =p
Been going to Hamilton and Montreal a lot.
I'll definitely let you know the next time I go back to Windsor...
ACTUALLY, October 25-27 I'll be down in Windsor!
And thanks for the compliments! Yes... those headlights. I still have to finish the retrofit that I have...
Washers? That's pretty smart actually. I'll probably look for some heavier duty washers or something as I'm assuming 'normal washers' will crush a bit.
Sorry I mean the tires looked chunky in terms of profile (height). I love the beefy look! I'm already rubbing and will need a roll+pull... I'm really contemplating trying to fit in a 265/35 all around when I change tires.
Thoughts?
I'm currently on S-Techs with 18x9.5 +27 (+24 or +22 for the front after I get spacers). Thinking I MIGHT get 5mm spacers in the rear to even out the look a little. Not sure.
Thanks a lot! I need to get an actual shoot done soon
Damn that's intense! hahah!
I'm not worried if my stud ends up breaking as I have replacements coming.
I'm not even sure how to get this stud off... probably lift the car, get vice grips--turn the wheel till the stud is at the 'bottom' and attempt to clamp the stud from the rear.
Did you end up replacing the broken stud?
Thanks Meko!
No worries on the bad luck, stuff happens! I'm safe and car runs so all is good =]
And yeah man... class+work+car is difficult. I have a lot of projects and car experiments being backed up because I'm running low on spare time.
PLUS I have to find a new apartment soon =t
Dirty though actually, but thanks! =p
Thanks dude!
How's your ride coming along? Installed those rear LED boards yet? --- I still need to find a left side replacement for mine
Thanks a lot!
Sometimes I think it looks too OEM in certain lighting... but then when the sun shines and the Jag's grey (and silver I had mixed in) starts popping... I'm all...

just found your thread... TL looks great.. I love that color on it.. you were nuts with the balding tire though man.. never know when it is going to pop and at what speeds.. you got lucky
the wider tires would look great on the car.. and on the wheel too... just going to have to do some pulling on those fenders
