Made some new LED reverse lights
I got my two Cree XML-L2 (U2 bin).
I had some old pc water cooling "blocks", that I took the copper bases off. Then I mounted the emitter star to the smooth side of the copper piece with arctic silver 5 thermal paste. I then took some high temp super glue, and glued around the outside of the star while I pressed it down.
I tested them by bench testing them for over 5 minutes, and they were barely warm. I am running them in series with a cermet 25w 2.7ohm resister. So, essentially I am giving them each 3.3v and 2.814A. Each LED is putting out about 1000-1100 lumen.
I've attached a some pics. The rear facing ones my phone was sitting right on my lip spoiler.
