Look what came in yesterday...

I know this isn't anything original. But, I enjoy the install picture threads. I won't have time to do the install for another few weeks, and no one I know really cares about this stuff. I'll take pictures during the install and post them on this thread.

I have a few questions for those who have the kit.

1) How long does it take to do all 4 lips?
2) Does the flair in front of the rear tire need the 3M clear bra material? As you can see, I have it on my base skirts, and a little on the rear fender. There are a lot of rocks up here.
3) I've seen in the DIY threads extra double stick tape was used. Is this still necessary?

Thanks AckTL05 for the quick and easy order!

I'd say give yourself 4-6 hours for the install. No 3m stuff needed but use extra 3m tape for the front and rear!

Aspec kit is an AMAZING mod, and one of my favorites!!

1. Do the sides tonight when you get home from work (I assume you're at work now) It shouldn't take you more than 20 mins - its basically pulling off the old ones, installing the white clips into the new sides, and popping them on the car.

The front and back shouldnt take you more than an hour and a half, less time if you've ever removed the front/rear bumpers before.

2. You might want to add 3M to the front skirt. My kit was brand new in March, and its got quite a bit of small pock marking and chipping now - more noticeable if you're up close. I have no issues with the flair in front of the rear tires whatsoever.

3. It is not Necessary, but it will help. I found that if you bolt/zip tie everything TIGHT, you won't really need it - I added it just to be safe anyway.

Good luck, drilling into the bumper is the only scary part, but it's really not that bad

1) took me probably 5 hours to install the whole kit...but i took my time.
2) i didn't 3M clear bra any of my parts, it's an optionial thing i guess.
3) yes, i used plenty of extra double sided tape for all the parts just to be on the safe side.

It should take a few hrs, like others said use some extra tape on the front and rear so its secure for the long run.

It took Tim and I about 3 hours to install it.

We were taking our time and it was raining out.

He only mounted it so that I could drive with it home.

I basically re-installed the front and rear brackets when I got home the next day lol

Congrats . You should be fine without any 3M clear bra on them. Mines dropped 3 inches all around and it's daily driven, I don't have any clips on them. The middle of the Front bumper and parts of the hood get more chips from rock and ect than anything.

the sides are simple..takes like 5 mins and u can save that for last. The rear was the toughest just because u have to drill thru ur bumper.. and the front was pretty easy too. you'll be fine

Definitely use extra double sided tape. If you don't, there will be parts that will have gaps. Make sure to do the curved areas cause those are the parts that tend to gap.

Got one side done.

Doesn't look that bad with just sides. But, maybe in the light the front wouldn't flow. I've never seen a TL with just sides.

Okay, I put the rear on today. It wasn't easy, and it doesn't fit very well. The sides are definitely a problem. I used extra tape but they still don't fit right. Well, it looks good overall, but took me about 4 hours. Here's the pics:

I think the front will be easier. Especially since I know how to take the bumper off.

looks beautiful, i love your wheels. great job.

i dont think you need to remove the front bumper to install the lip. do you? i thought just jacking it up would get you the clearance you need.

Niceness....

I agree with jptl...you need not take the front bumper off to install the front lip....

But if you are OCD/Anal/ohh shit this side is off by 0.0011324234mm kinda guy then yes take it off and do it right !!!

Looks great! What was wrong with the fitment of the rear? Looks fine to me. The rear lip doesn't completely line up with the top of the bumper and rear quarter panel if that's what you were wondering about, this is normal. My car has about a .5" space between the top of the bumper and the top of the lip.

^The Type S rear lip came with a strap and clip that feeds though a hole that you need to cut in the factory bumper underneath. Works much better than the sticky tape.

The lip needs to be moved up a mm or two to make sure it sits on top of the bumper crease.

Looks good so far man! The rear looks very good...as said above, the fitment is pretty normal. As long as you line up the brackets & bolts correctly, it will stay on just fine. I probably need to re-tape parts of mine now that I think about it...
