Yeah, I kinda like the look of the jewel lights on the new ILX. Looks pretty nice when I see one behind me, but if it's sacrificing the amount of light I'm gonna see I'll stick with the 3G TL's headlights all day.

Well, in between crazy weather here in Chicago, had a beautiful day today and got to do the first real hand wash of the year! Crap weather will be back by Tuesday night, but still feels great to get her nice and clean anyway.

Clean TL-S!!! I feel you bro, I haven't been able to hand wash and detail my car yet either and we're going to get crappy weather on Tuesday too. I can't wait to spend a weekend detailing my car once all the snow stops coming and the nice weather is here for good.

Looks fantastic, Kurt! I hope it can stay clean for a few days-we've been having crazy weather here in KC too. On Easter, it snowed a 1/2 inch. By 5pm, we took the Corvette out and took the top off.

Well, it got snowed on in less than 24 hours on a day with like a 20% chance of precip. Go figure. Oh well, still looks pretty good today.

Also, not parked like a jerk. I'm at the edge of the side lot, and that first space is actually only about 2/3 a space, so it can't be used as a regular spot anyway.

I've been telling everyone...those jewel headlights don't even come close to touching our heads with upgraded internals. IMO.

Love your aspecs. They always look so dark yet shiny.

Yeah, I'm confident my headlights compete with just about anything out there. And I love the finish on the wheels too, very happy with how they came out.

Yeah man, very similar, your car is coming out well!

I gotta do some stuff this year...I don't think I changed anything on the car last summer. I have a couple little things in mind...hopefully get to them sooner rather than later.

Car cleaned up and ready for the nice weather ahead. ES2s cleaned up too...but unfortunately closer inspection revealed that I will need to replace the 2 front tires. Thought I could get away with one more season, but no such luck. Should have looked at them more closely when I took them off I guess. New tires most likely won't be here by the weekend, so I'll have to wait one more week to put them on.

Already ordered. Hopefully next weekend will have some free time, looks like the nice weather around here is holding out for awhile.

Also, turns out I still have my camera! Feels like I haven't used it for anything but the kid in forever. Took a few shots on the way to work yesterday while it was still clean. Was practicing full manual mode, but i think they came out okay.

Haha, I think you have the honor of being the first person to ever look at my car and say it inspired them to go lower.

Says the guy with the perfect new paint...but yeah, it does clean up nice. And hides it well when it isn't clean. Silver FTW in that respect.

Thanks J! I find it a bit easier when its sunny out and you can just set ISO to 100 and forget about it.

Yeah, after having a NBP 05, I knew that black wasn't on my radar again. Just too hard to keep looking the way I want it to. Silver really has been a great color to maintain. And I love that metallic flake you can see in the picture of the Type S logo.

Lastly, the part I need help with. I realized over the weekend that my sub wasn't doing anything over the weekend. Didn't get a chance to investigate anything yet, but also don't remember much about amps and whatnot anymore, haven't had to think about them in years. Any pointers on what I should look at/check first? It's a basic set up with power run from battery to amp in the trunk, and just the sub hooked up from there with signal taken from factory sub wiring.

stick a dmm in the amp sub outputs and see if there's any voltage readings. that will tell you if there is an issue pre or post amp. then you can track it down from there

Thanks J! I assume you're referring to the matte blue R8.

As for the sub, it actually kicked on a bit this morning on the way to work, and then seemed to fall off again. I'm thinking this means most likely a lose connection back there, so I think I'll first try re-doing all the connections, and then making sure that the crossovers didn't somehow get moved to some goofy setting. Hopefully those little steps take care of it.

uh, no...I love your car...
and the FLEX...
if it's ecoboost they can be made ridiculously quick for very little money.

I know you you do J, just goofing. That R8 was purdy lookin' doe.

And since the Flex is for the wifey, I didn't want to spend extra on the engine, plus I had heard of more reliability concerns with the ecoboosted version. So the regular V6 but with all the bells and whistles and AWD. Very nice riding car, and tons of space in that thing.

I've read about that too...I haven't seen it yet, but to be honest, I haven't really had the time to go thru the whole car yet. I certainly didn't see a fridge, so I think it must have been an option this one didn't get.

Shoot, with all the room in that Flex, we'll probably be able to look forward to a third kid in August of 2017 too!
I skimmed over that and dint' say it, but congrats, man...

Congrats on the future addition KJ and the Flex! Good call on getting the N/A V6, those ecoboosted engines are a bit of a headache from what I've seen.

The ES2's were definitely missed, good to see them back on.

Thanks J!...the car certainly has the room for the third...a couple years down the line tho for that one!

Thanks! Yeah, i'd heard of some issues, but for all I know they were addressed by 2013. Either way, since it wasn't my car I figured pay for the other features instead of the moar power.

ES2s

Like I said...might not even be an issue anymore, but I figure there's certainly more room for things to go wrong on an ecoboost as opposed to a plain jane V6.

Do you think you could have gotten away with using a 10mm spacer in front instead of 15?
