Thanks guys. Real life has been too busy to do any real wash or photos for a while, but hopefully I'll find some time eventually. Don't foresee any significant changes to the car tho, just maintaining it for the long haul.

looks great still!

so i'm really close to pulling the trigger on the aspec kit with the base lip for the front instead of type s. did you ever reattempt to pull your side in closer? i've talked to a few people and they said just use industrial strength 3M and lots of it, and remove wax in that area prior

No, never re-visited it. It bugs me, but not terribly. Is what it is - With the tension at the area due to the very tight fit, I don't think tape would pull it down at this point. Better prep and lots of tape might have made it work at first though I suppose.

Down the road if I ever get the front end re-sprayed I'd probably have it re-secured or molded on or something. Until then though, it will stay as is.

ever notice how you'll lose sleep about something not being perfect when you're staring at it and focusing on it...
then 3 months later, you're like...oh that? Yeah, don't even see it.

J's right, I obsessed about solutions at first...then just kinda moved on with life.

If I was doing it over, and both lips were available in ASM, I'd probably still do the base lip but take more time on getting those spots better tucked in. I didn't realize that it was going to be a problem area until I was right there in the middle of it.

Regardless, you gotta get the kit. That and the steering wheel are some of my favorite mods on the whole car.

thanks man i always appreciate your input.

i'm ordering the sides today locally and should have them on tomorrow. i'm going to wait until next week for the front and rear so my credit card isn't so bad and so the changes are slowly incorporated so my wife doesn't notice haha (supposed to be saving for a house...800 shouldn't make or break me in the long run right? haha)

Nice...and when you're keeping the car for the long haul....that $800 is worth it. The rear lip is my favorite piece, I think it looks fantastic with quad tips. I basically can't believe you took this long to get it.

haha well i had absolutely no interest in it from 2008 to 2012. then i started researching and almost bought it in 2012. now re-evaluating it again haha. the white mismatch is what drove me away everytime, i've seen some really bad wdp kit matches (but the more i researched the more it was 04-06 wdp that had "flat" kits)

in hindsight, i should have bought it right away so that the entire car faded together. we'll see how it turns out! i have a quote in to my local acura guy that hooks me up, he previously quoted me 736 plus tax so i'm seeing what the cost is now.

My Aspec kit with base front lip is sitting on my pool table waiting to be installed. I also ordered like 50 Ft of 3m double sided tape to help secure that area. Might tackle it this weekend if it doesn't rain here in Chicago.

Oh yeah, I had forgot about that WDP mismatch, I've seen that and it would drive me nuts too. Hopefully the later years are better like you said. I think $736 is right about what I paid way back. Can't believe that was 4 years ago already.

Nice! I didn't realize you were in Chicago. I'm out in the burbs near I-90 and Route 59 but work in Glenview.

pulled the trigger!

installed rear last night and will install sides this weekend! the color mismatch is like i thought...the kit is whiter and brighter than the bumper but looks much better in person than in pictures. i think i'll get over it soon just like i got over the "yellow" wdp bumper haha

i haven't bought the front yet because i still go back and forth but i had my local acura guy that hooks me up order and hold a base front so i can buy it next week when the credit card statement resets

Last month I paid HeelToe $750 CAD for the lip and shipping, and since white is that only color around, I'll have to pay an additional $250 for a strip and paint. sockr did the whole kit cheaper than my front lip.

To be clear, definitely nothing to do with HeelToe or Marcus. He was nothing but excellent during the process. The weak dollar and crazy shipping rates were the issue.

Past connections from working for an Acura dealer many moons ago. Plus that '07-'08 base lip is super tiny.

Mine may be less exotic...but I think it still looks damn good next to the Ghibli.

I remember thinking the Ghibli was going to be exciting when they first announced it...guess that didn't pan out for them. I'd rather have my car too...guess I'll just keep it.

Also, a few times on my way home from work I've been next to an IS300 with ES2s....I gotta get those on soon.

edit: holy shit on that lease price...that's crazy.

Yeah, definitely can't complain about the winter setup like I have. Very happy with it, not that Chicago had much winter to worry about this year.

I really gotta check out the tire situation on the ES2s this weekend to see if I need to get a couple new ones...can't seem to remember when I get home at night.

Unrelated, but did you guys see the new IIHS headlight ratings?
Why So Many Of Today's Headlights Suck

I wonder how the TL with ZKWs and CBIs would fare in that test...

Yeah I saw this is the other day too! I think the TL's lighting is excellent in my opinion. Very clear on low & high beam on the dark country roads I drive at night. The shittiest headlights I've experienced was my old '08 CRV. That thing sucked on low and high beam & I could barely see anything at night. I still think the headlight system on the TL is even better than my RDX. I was surprised to see the TLX rating was poor.

I thought the same about the TLX. I guess those jewel eyes aren't all that perfect. I'm not even sold on the look anyway to be honest.
