JDECON's Progress Thread

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I wanted to start a progress thread when I got back from Iraq last month and didnt get a chance too. Well here it is. I bought a 2005 Acura TL 6spd with navi last year in September. Complete A Spec, Steering wheel, Suspension, body kit and wheels. Modifications since ive been home are ATLP Base exhaust, 3M tint 15% in rear and 30% in front. Painted front grille, DomNav2go system with pie x3 and ipod video. Gonna pick up all my lighting by Peter at 4AE Autodesign tonight. Ordered BC Coilovers, last year but they are in back order for another 3 weeks. Also Progress rear sway bar on the way. Last but not least I will be doing the test fitment for the Revised ATLP Jpipe soon. I also added a new armrest and redid my tranny so no 3rd gear issues hopefully for a while. Pictures dont show new armrest but will post shortly with new L.E.D Panel lights interior, reverse Cree and license plate lights.

Tks ABP, Love the color of your car. Anyone reading this thread; once Winky helps me install the coilovers I will be selling my ASPEC Suspension for a bill since they have 115,000 miles on them. Winky is a member on here as well. Im going to have him test drive the vehicle with the A Spec suspension so he can give an honest opinion that the shocks and springs are in great condition (which they are; for a 115,000 miles they feel great). Then I will clean and post pics on the FS thread.

Great progress. Sounds like you got some of the best stuff still coming though.

Have you thought about accord fogs or a 07-08 conversion?

Steve, 08AcuraTL3 - tks for the compliments.

Twisdit - I was in Los Angeles tonight and wish I had an automatic but luckily the TL has a smooth 6spd IMO compared to some sports cars.

Your baby seat looks better than mine. Is that a booster or a full blown car seat? Mine takes up like 30% of the back seat. Makes my car so unsporty and uncomfortable for rear seat passengers cause of its size, lol. My son is only 2 so I have to have a full car seat and not booster but not sure if they make me smaller these days.

Also, like someone else posted above, thanks for your service.

Ntwillie tks for the support bro. Its a full booster. My son just turn 3 but weighs like 50 lbs. I was so happy when we got rid of the big ass car seat. Leave him there until he is 3 then your good unless he is big as now.

So finally washed the car. Put on Varrstoen ES 4.4.2 19x9.5 in rear with 245-35-19 and 19x8.5 in front 225-35-19. Also lowered on bc coilovers. Next progress will be accord fogs with hids.

That mesh/web design looks so good on TL's. Wheels look awesome!

As a fellow BC coilover owner, you won't be disappointed. Had mine for about 6 months now and have put 30k+ miles on them and they still ride smooth.

Tks for all the compliments guys. I def agree that the mesh wheels go great with the TL. I am def loving my bc's so far. It is such a solid coilover. Very easy to raise or lower and the ride is smooth. I have the front on 15 and the rears the same.

ya, our setups are very similar. I went a little softer on mine and did 7 up front and 9 in the rear. Not only is it easy to raise and lower you can do it from several points which helps for those tight spaces.

Still debating on spending the money for that atlp exhaust or have a local shop build me a custom one.....

Hey Gryphen do you notice the suspension being floaty at all with that soft of setting. Im gonna be biased on the exhaust cause I love my atlp so much. Your right about having similar setups. We got the same CAI, coilovers and hopefully you get the atlp exhaust as well. Heres a photo for you. I have new plates already so dont really care if my old plates are not blocked out.

Only time I notice its "floaty" like that is in like decent dips on the interstate doing like 75+ mph.

Ya, I have seen the exhaust in person on Italiano and CltothheTL's cars last fall at a car show. Its gorgeous with the way it fills that aspec kit right up. I just don't know if i can justify $1200 on something I can come close to building for half that.

What is the offset on the wheels btw?

Been debating vanity tags for mine thinking "UA SICK".

You gotta get some type-s side markers, clear out those headlamps and maybe TL-S tails. and you'll be set on the outside.

Offset is +35 front and rear. I had fenders rolled, batted with a mallet and grinded. Those plates would be nice, cops would be like UA sick wtf is that. Lol i got combat vet plates from the tour in iraq i just finished in november. Clearing out headlights next week and def need some sidemarkers. You should get a used exhaust for 600 or 700 on black market.

Close to my offset. +40 all the way around for me. I didn't roll anything but I'm also not as low as you. When I do new tires I will because I'm gonna go up to a 255/35/19.

LOL the vanity tag would only make sense to other TL enthusiasts.

I figured, you've done so much of the big stuff that the minor little things like that would be last of your worries/finishing touches.
